Shortage of Tank .......

I am giving up on tanking. Why?

1- I am a warrior and not a paladin. Paladins are the chosen ones, and I don't want to play as a mamsy-pamsy Paladin.
2- Everyone expects something different from a tank, but in general, they just want you to do mostly everything, how they want it done. Mark targets, click off regen, lead the group, know every fight, and psychically understand when you should bother taunting off the BLM/BRD and when to just let them burn the target.
3- Quite honestly, I do not think Squeenix has a handle on warriors or how to fix them. My experience with MMOs say you should play the class that you want, not the class you think it will be.

I think all these MMOs creators have it wrong. They always know tanks will be short supply, yet consistently make it the class that is the most demanding in terms of gear, knowledge, patience, and skill.

Don't give up on tanking, and don't give up on War! I just got out of a df AK run earlier, it was the scholar's first time healing a war, you know what he said? 'First time healing war and he's so good!' 'like healing a pld'. Needless to say it gave me a big head and I started to fudge it a bit on the next couple pulls, but we pushed on and cleared it with 83 mins remaining. They even said 'thanks for the great tanking'. Moments like that is what makes tanking worth it, even when you have to deal with toxic buttholes and downright dummies when you're still learning, or if you fudge it a bit. FIGHT ON COMRADE! Don't give up the axe just yet!

I actually started a tank using the power of this thread. It has been a very nice journey and I am enjoying it quite a lot. Currently level 42 just casually leveling which is almost there I got the points for relic and DL - titan shield - garuda sword ready to wear it so a bit excited about that. Finally I gotten a couple of DF situations but I quickly use the would you rather wait 1 hour in queue? and they usually shut up and suck it up and we get through the dungeon letting me do my own thing. Paladins if you are skilled enough to make judgements that are logical do not take the abuse!! FIGHT back.
