Just how CHEAP your Sub really is.

I'm not saying all $60 are a waste of money, but the amount of games being released with more than 12 hours of content is getting smaller and smaller. Fallout? Skyrim? Go for it, those are totally worth your money. I even dropped $200 the other week JUST to play the new pokemon, again, worth it. Because I play the sh*t out of it.

But the fact remains that a subscription fee is one of the CHEAPEST forms of entertainment.

If you go to the movies and get a drink you're gonna be spending somewhere around $20 for about an hour and a half of entertainment. You could literally login and play for 2 hours the entire month and be getting a better bang for your buck.

This argument is the skeletal remains of a dead horse.

Obviously, not all forms of entertainment have the same hourly value for everyone. Some people like movies more. Those people will get more "bang for their buck" by going to the movies because they dgaf about playing an MMO.

a 60$ game is worth alot more then a sub game to me. i buy the 60$ once i get it for the rest of my life (if i take good care of it) while a sub game i have a limited amount of time and it adds up more and more and more. which is also why i like f2p games completely free, are some of them p2w yea but not all of them, not like i care anyways it's f2p and i don't pay a cent guess it only matters to people who wanna stroke their epeen over being the best and doesn't like other people being the best with them. xD

course i will say i really like this game and it's the first sub game i have played.

Just felt like making a post about this because I really don't understand how a subscription is a deterrent for some people when you like the game.

Assuming you're paying the highest price of 14.99 a month. That's 49 cents a day, or 2 cents an hour.

Yet these same people will drop $60 for a game that is over in 6 hours.

just because ppl drop their subs (or considering dropping it), doesnt mean money is a issue. besides, what is it to you what ppl do with their money?

Normally, people play it once maybe twice ( depending on the game) then they shelf it for a later date ( could be a year after they played with it.). Subbing for an MMORPG is kinda the same thing, You don't wanna play it for 3 months? Unsub till that time then continue where you left off.

Try "most of them" or "a huge majority of them". Very few f2p games don't have some form of p2w whether it be stat buffs, xp buffs or just plain xp, better gear, or in arguably the absolute worst case, in-game currency (GW2 I'm looking right at you).

It's not so much that the sub is an issue but the current service offered. Its like going to mcdicks and paying full price for a meal and it gets to you cold. Granted its a vicious cycle because they need the money from subs to fund their service. I like FFXIV and will continue to pay. Its a great game when it works and a POS when it doesn't.

What if I told you, there're other places on the world, where you can buy around 20 meals with $15?... And these places aren't even considered poor countries. It's easy to earn that much ofcourse, but it still make you think hard about your investment, especially when ARR isn't that good (yet?)

And Im pretty sure these ppl will not spent $60 on games that last for 6 hours, in fact they would pirate those, unless it's on the new consoles that can't be hacked yet, or have multiplayer like CoD/BF4. And furthermore they can always resell those games to buy another.

I wasn't trying to say there is anything wrong with buying $60 games, regardless of how short they are, I've bought plenty. I was just pointing out how extremely cheap a sub in an MMO is for the amount of entertainment you can potentially get from it.
