Alright all you DF speedrun wannabes that are tanks,
take a minute to look at the dps in the party before trying to pull 8+ monsters at a time.
Seeing more retarded tanks lately trying to do this when the DPS arent geared well enough to aoe burn things down quickly, worse they are losing hate or not dodging red.
Just because the healer has a relic and the tank is well geared doesnt magically guarantee a 10min WP.
A smart tank in a DF party would build up to more aggressive pulls and not sprint off and pull 8+ things at the start

I'm seeing more noob tanks in Tonberry than in Malboro...maybe it's just my luck. Just yesterday a tank asked us to mark the mobs for him...at least he was appologetic when the party wipes 3 times in Sunken Temple's first boss.

I once ran half a dungeon and wiped the party because I didn't realize I had shield oath off. We all have our off days :\
But that running off without waiting for buffs was just dumb. I'm sorry you suffered that OP.

I agree with this. When I DF AK I always start out slow as I don't know everyone capabilities. I make sure that I don't go too slow of course, but depending on how long it takes to burn the first group or two will normally determine how aggressive I can be with my pulls. As we go through the dungeon I'll either rev up or pull back depending on how much strain is on the party.
I also make it a habit to change the order of my party window by moving the healer up under my name so I can have situational awareness of their health and mana. This also allows me to identify if the healer is a WHM or a SCH as well as allow time for buffs. As far as I'm concerned the Tank and the Healer should have the closest relationship out of the entire group as they rely on each other to stay alive the most. Of course that's always been my stance in any MMO I've played.

I never blame anyone when I wipe. I mean, If I go from my 6k hp to 0 on a Ifrit fight without getting a single cure then It's prolly the healers fault, but I'll usually just rage to my friends on skype lol.

I totally sympathize with your pain, OP - but anyone checking the forums is not going to be your problem : D I'd also like to comment that Tank idiocy is way more visible than healer/dps idiocy due to us being the focus of mostly everyone's attention, especially healers.
The community (and any community) will have its fair share of stupidity. So much so that I am often left trying to imagine what the people playing the characters look like/are doing in real life. Like, are they smashing their face into a brick wall while smoking a crack pipe and hitting their keyboard with a baseball bat? The best thing I have found is to vent a little to my FC, do my darndest to stick it out and help them learn, and as a last resort, explain that the goal cannot be attained, and eat the lockout myself to leave.
I've had healers that would run away with aggro, like say to the entrance of the dungeon, and leave the rest of the party to die because they were "too busy kiting to heal". Bad healers just insta-ruin any party.

Its always the healers fault. Cast protect faster!
Rule number one of tanking: always blame the healer. God knows you will get enough shit throwed at your face as it is, better share the burden a bit.
Sorry mate![]()
