That's exactly IT though... the entire premise to FFXIV's battle system all along has been about getting rid of the class placement system. It's always been about the weapon defining the class.
P.S. First time I'll ever call something out for this, but I cannot be assed to read that .pdf file: tl;dr.

All I am gonna say is... TL;DR
People like you are dragging these forums down. What kind of message does it send when you inform new players that they should not be informative and well versed when getting in contact with development? Would you prefer the forums be riddled with posts such as "Hur, I think we need Chocobos, right guys?!" or along those lines? He put in the effort to create a well written (You apparently don't understand what a wall of text IS), informative document that covers almost every potential issue that has been brought up since release. He even went so far as to include pictures to explain some of the suggestions.

What kind of message does it send when you put a big block O' text ain't no one gunna read. Devs aren't going to read this kind of stuff. Just like in the closed beta forum.

My intent was to have it read, ultimately by the development team, but if not by them, then the community which can then take bits and pieces and submit it via the feedback form or any other means. I offer the links up in the PDF. It was constructed into a PDF to 1) not make 100 individual thread posts seeing as I'm sure the forums would have a character cap 2) Printable
From there it was separated into categories, allowing whomever to easily separate one part from another if need be.
If the intention of the forums is to help the team gather ideas, how do you think THEY will compile it? Into a list I'm sure, but they'll just need people searching left and right for those suggestions on their own forums. I've simply just compiled the list for them. Granted, it isn't everything, it comes off a bit editorial, but I don't think anyone would deny the fact that the changes everyone wants to see aren't there.
The close beta forums did some good, we got better mouse control hehe. You're right though, we didn't see much of anything else from those rants and discussions. We can only hope that Yoshi-P initiated this change for the better of the game and the company oppose to Tanaka's jurisdiction.
The thing that keeps me from playing are the controls. It's just not comfortable to play.

might as well, close the most of other suggess thread and keep this one, since it include the most
ninja edit add: also i am fine with the armory system as it is now, or it change. I am fine with you can lvl up all class and master all, or you can lvl up all class but can only master 1.
Master a class will you unique skill or special ability only avaiable for the class as goes for DoW, DoM, DoL and DoH, so you still beable to custom your char and have a unique ability that the other dont have, it isnt a bad idea
edit p2: also I d like to see chain link skill and ability of knock back, fall down and unconcious.
exampler for chain skill (pug): 1st press = "left punch", after the skill hit, a new icon will appear and replace the "left punch", 2nd press = "right punch", a new icon will appear and replace the "right punch", 3rd press = "upper cut". if the 1st or the 2nd miss, the chain skill will stop.
The dmg system can goes like this :
1st press 150 tp, dmg 150.
2nd press 250tp, dmg 160
3rd press 600tp , dmg 250
so that also mean, you dont need 1k TP to do a full chain, but the dmg become more if you can exercute the full chain.
Why do we need the chain skill system: the game dont have auto-attack, this chain skill will bring more exiting to sit and use press the button to execute/hit.
also the knock back, fall down (stumble), unconcious is the common effect of mmo nowday, so its good to have it in this game to follow the flow of mmo while it dont touch the unique concept of the game.
I d like to inrease the speed of the combat, even in pve term the combat system atm is to slow, the skill execute animation take alot of time, it give you more than enough time to think, there is nothing exiting about that. But that can be because of the network, and also can cause by my slow laptop.

I think I agree with one of the first posts.. The armory system is awful. In theory it's amazing, but being able to flick back and forth at will so easily unbalances a lot of the game's interesting aspects.. Like.. Changing to a rank 50 job to get through an aggro area where a normal rank 10 would struggle. I think it saps a lot of the fun out of the game..
I don't think I'm alone when I say I was a fan of the way you changed jobs in FFXI by going into the Mog House to do it rather than just at the flick of a different weapon. Bring back rank and job specific EVERYTHING and obliterate the system we have!
Also bring back Mog houses and Subjobs.
Subjobs would serve to enhance class uniqueness since you'd be a merge of two instead of a merge of -EVERYTHING-.
Mog Houses just BECAUSE.
