What is the logic behind 3102?

I am trying to understand, why is it that if you lag out of a game session, your character is still logged on?

And then, if you try to log on, you get a 3102 error that prevents you because the system thinks that you are already logged on...

How is it possible that there isn't logic that prevents this from happening?

Shouldn't the system check to see if you are logged in and if so, auto disconnect? Correct me if I'm wrong I don't know game development, but I do know development logic. And this is quite stupid to me...

It's the same system used in FFXI to an extent. I can tell you that I can log in and out pretty quickly other than hitting the potential 3102 error. Without that roadblock I could theoretically force DC...wait out an annoying damage mechanic (re: PLUMES) and log back in. Could even force DC to dodge aggro in a dungeon potentially. Therefore the game holds your session active for a few minutes ensuring that not only can you not get back in immediately but that you take the damage you would otherwise have been able to cheat your way around taking.
