    Wind shards....WHERE?!?

Ok, I have not been able to locate wind shards at all. Where oh where do I find them? What mobs drop them? Any help is appreciated. I can teleport to all three cities so I can go to which ever one I need to, I just need to find them. I'd really like to start crafting.

    Thanks!

Limsa area has sheep and puks- both drop tons of wind shards. Beetles/ladybugs/chigoes work too.

You can get them from bats, roselets, bees around Emerald Moss (Gridania), but Limsa is much better for them.

Alternatively, if you have lightning shards, go to the fish store in LL (south of adventurer's guild) and buy Tiger Cod for 200ish gil.
    1 Tiger Cod + 4 Lightning Shard = 12 Wind Shard, and it's a Rank 1 Alchemy recipe.

One other alternative is to do Guild Tasks. Perform a level 1 or level 10 task (like making bone rings or brass wire) and you can turn them in for shards. The rewards vary -- some offering shards, some gil -- and the rewards seem to be on sort of a lottery type system -- so you're never guaranteed to get the best possible reward -- but you can get up to 100 shards of a given type.

    Botany works well too .

It might, as rumored, be in part due to my high Wind stat, but while I'm running around gathering, I get almost a pure flow of wind shards from Botany. It may vary a bit by City region, but either way, it's a good turnout.

Yeah it's your wind element allocation.

If one of your elements is significantly higher than the others, you'll get mostly that element's shard while engaging in DoL activities.
