i wouldn't expect to hear any info on the ps3 release until the end of this year at the earliest. if it comes any sooner it'd be a bonus, but if you don't expect it and it comes it is a plus.

My problem is that I am watching would be players lose faith in ever playing this game. It's not their fault they were promised a PS3 release. If the game gets much better before a large audience can access it I feel it will only anger the would be players more. At some point it needs to be released and continued to be developed upon.

Games get pushed back all the time, everyone always sticks with them.

Yea, my point being you make it sound as if the PS3 crowd has forgotten about FFXIV. FF games in general get pushed back countless times, and people never forget about them. This isn't true to just FF games but many games in general, FF at least has its name to help it out too.

The name is what interested them in the first place. Not what keeps them around with no game. I am not talking about other FF games just this one. And the problem is that PS3 players haven't forgotten about the game and some even really want to play it.

Exactly my point. And whether the game is released now or by the holidays wont change that, the difference will be that by the holidays they will actually have a game to play that will keep them around longer.
