The last post on that thread seems to show SE's attitude towards the player base with lag issues.
"We don't see anyone else posting about lag, so it must have solved itself."

Lag is a bit of a different animal than how the client deals with positional updates. SE literally cannot fix lag that is a result of the ISP or the player. So I can see why the thread was resolved the way it was. I see no mention of getting hit by AOEs after a person is out, which doesn't so much have to do with lag as it has to do with how the client is communicating (or not communicating) with the server.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...eriously/page5

People are going to lag, that's inevitable, and lag can mean a variety of thing. Disconnects, rubberbanding, stop and go movement. I'm not really expecting SE to fix those things, nor do those things seem to happen large scale anymore. The two are actually two separate issues. The one I'm speaking about is more akin to what is in the accepted bugs forum, however, as a mod has already informed us, all that means is they've gathered enough information to investigate at some point in time... sometime...maybe.

The point wasn't to point out the similarity in threads. The point was to point out that the moderator basically said, "I have seen no one else complaining about lag, therefore it must no longer exist." And ANYONE who takes a minute to click the "Today's Posts" link at the forum top will see about 5 threads per day with that exact subject matter.Lag is a bit of a different animal than how the client deals with positional updates. The point was to show that SE is just blatantly ignoring any issue regarding server performance.

Exactly my thougts too. SE would close this thread to as soon as we quit to write in here. The point wasn't to point out the similarity in threads. Maybe all threads will automatically been closed after 2 or 3 weeks when no one writes. Dont know.
But it shows how SE is handling such things.

Oh, I know they're ignoring it, but lag is a different issue itself altogether, and the mod is right there. I haven't seen people complain about it, just the server not recognizing where your character is. The accepted bug thing gives me hope, because what is listed there (that a mod didn't just dismiss) is exactly the issue. I'm attempting to keep a few (2) different threads bumped until I quit playing entirely. My patience is probably going to last about as long as my 3 month subscription. Until then, that's really the only thing I can do to make the issue visible, and be very clear that it's still an issue.
Being, said I do love the game otherwise. I would like to keep playing, but every time I get hit by something I was out of it destroys the fun of playing. I know it's that way for many other people, and it isn't always predictable, nor are all the skills for fights always completely predictable. I can judge approximately when Repelling Cannons will go off, but unless I'm dragging the boss this way and that way with me, I can't really pre-move out of it, and my timing is likely going to be off a good few seconds each time. Not to say I get hit by it every time. Sometimes I make it out of it just fine.
I also don't understand why people want the posts about it to just go away (because then for sure it wouldn't get addressed, as that lag thread you posted). That's not helping the game, threads like these aren't hurting the community, no one is being nasty to each other (for the large majority of the thread anyway). If we accept it as is, without SE coming out and saying they're no longer willing to look into it, then we're letting them off the hook for something game breaking.. and something that is so far out from what the industry standard is. If SE comes out an goes "we're not considering this an issue" in a way like that accepted bug being moved to the resolved/closed section, then so be it.. and many of us can make decisions based on that. Until then, it's up in the air and just a patience game.
