    Totally support this.
    My location has high latency.
    This issue does not affect only aoe but all attacks that involved position.
    My characters got out of attacks' range every time but still got hit by the attacks.
    In my screen, it showed my character already got out of the red area or attacks' area but still got hit, very frustrating.
    Please fix this SE.

    Actually there is. They can increase the time it takes for these abilities to fire off. Which will make everyone with good latency yell "ZOMG EASY MODE, I QUIT".

    I do have to say that my latency varies with dungeon instances. Sometimes nothing, sometimes manageable, and sometimes impossible amounts of latency. So it also seems like they could possibly improve their DF system to have less latency.

    If everyone was a good guy though, they could simply let the client return data if you were outside or not. But hackers would set that to always outside and just stand still.

    They rarely respond to anything remotely important so gl with getting anything out of SE with this. I hope you do because this deserves to be adressed, I just have little hope.

    One solution they could try is to time positional aoes the boss throws so they go off like 0.01 seconds after the last positional update. Kind of like how they modify all dot ticks into a single 3 second server countdown.

    If player position updates are out of synch, making that solution unfeasible, then any player who was in the aoe at the start of the cast should be given an extra position update request right as it goes off.

    If that doesn't work, make all AOE indicators .29 seconds worth of strafing running bigger. Then at least it'll feel hard instead of unfair.

    they're probably so pinned down dealing with the ridiculous amount of RMT and hackers that they don't have resources to work on anything else.

    It is a weird issue though and largely unique to just this game, Do think it really is that .3s polling that is the real issue though
    did a test of about 100 "wait for weight of the earth to spawn under me and run out" with some friends and the amount that hit us was around 20-30% for all 7 people which syncs up pretty well with that .3s polling

    They do have to do something about the positioning check. Theoretically, a check of 0.3s would mean if you have a latency under 300ms it wouldn't matter BUT it's latency _per packet_ and I doubt it involves only one packet to check if player is out of AoE. It would require at least 2 - one to send char position and one for the server to answer whether the user is out of AoE or not and/or send the damage. So that means that with my ~160ms ping my client can sync the position with a delay of 0.31s

    Which left me wondering why I sometimes still get hit despite being out of it over 1-2 seconds already. Just for giggles, I decided to set all setting to low... and as absurd as it sounds, it looks like AoE markers are delayed if your client happens to dip under 30 fps in an encounter. I am still getting hit by AoE when I'm out of it on my screen (but frustratingly, not on my teammates'), so SOME kind of latency problem is still there. I don't know if it's the server-side position check delay or something else, but it's really annoying, especially on encounters where not dodging will retire you from the rest of the battle.

    The more I think about it the more it feels like they can't do anything about the delay. If they could fix it, then surely they would have said something by now. However, if they can't fix it then it would be stupid to go out and admit it, from a business perspective, because it would cost them thousands of subs. If they stay quiet then a lot of people will probably keep subbing in hope that it will get solved sooner or later. By the time people figure out that nothing will change, they have already invested so much time into their accounts that some of them will probably keep playing anyway because they don't want to throw it all away. So my guess is that SE is just waiting it out and praying that enough people will stay with the game. I can't think of any other logical reason to ignore these threads for two months.

    Personally, I don't want to pay a company that treats their customers like this. If nothing has been announced befor my game time expires in two weeks, then I will be cancelling my subscription.
