healer gaining way too much aggro

I have a healer that I run with alot who seems to always draw way more aggro than any other healer I ever run with to where I have to use flash twice as much as normal. He is a white mage and I'm just trying to figure out if there is something that he is doing different or what? Any help would be appreciated.

Quite simple really, i'd say he is overhealing and not giving the tank (you in this case) enough time to get a good amount of agro on the mobs.

He's either overhealing and gaining unnecessary emnity, or his gear is a lot better than yours and his simple heals are generating more emnity than your rotation due to gear discrepancy.

If your healer use Regen, or Medic II, then you have it

Only thing I can think of is that they are overhealing. While this happens quite a lot on things like Titan and Coil because a tank's HP can plummet very quickly it's really not necessary before that, you can let the tank's HP drop a fair bit before there's any rush t heal them. Other advice I can give is don't cast Regen until the tank has used Flash and pre-cast Stoneskin before each pull.

Thanks for the advice I'll bring them up next time I get on

@kryzen thanks didn't know about regen

@filenotfound 1-2-3 flash works for a while but is a huge drain on tanks mp that combo can only be used about 7x before we are drained

like others have said over healing is likely a cause.
Even at full hp, your heals still give the same amount of aggro.

Also when a heal crits it can generate ALOT of aggro. (ive crit cure2s for 4k before)

regen at start of battle can give healer aggro due to it ticking before any aggro skills can be used.

aoe heals hit multiple targets and can give alot of aggro, and i think aoe heal aggro gives more aggro/hp recovered then single target heals do.

Medica II can rip aggro off tanks with ease if used incorrectly. healer should never use this unless 100% necessary (very few fights require its use. whm should almost never use this skill).

divine seal increases heals by 30%, thus increasing aggro by 30%.

shroud of saints drops your current aggro by 1/2, 2min cd. Best to use when high on aggro table, or if u steal aggro as whm. if you have problems with aggro definitely save shroud for that. If u dont have aggro problems time it for the mp regen.

whm can get eye for an eye and virus from smn sub class. whm should have these skills. They both help reduce damage taken. less damage taken = less healing needed = less aggro necessary.

You as a tank should be using your 1-2-3 combo alot until aggro will not be lost to healer. Flash is ONLY for aoe mobs.
For aoe packs as pld do 1-2-3 flash, 1-2-3 flash. switch target 1-2-3 flash, switch 1-2-3 flash. rinse and repeat as necessary. Remember to use your tank damage reductions aswell in aoe packs, to reduce the amount of heals needed so u can build the aggro.

There arnt many fights where healer aggro should be a problem. If it is, its either the healer or tank not playing correctly.

as a tank, there are times I wish I could /backhand healers who spam Medica II and cry over pulling threat. Regen before engaging just makes it a pain to collect mobs and really is the tanks job to turn off before each pull.

Other then these two situations there really isn't any other way a healer will pull threat unless the tanks ability to generate threat sucks. (like those that just spam RoH).
