    Sorry, WoW kept me going for 8 years some how so the technology most certainly DOES exist to create a wildly popular MMO which can retain players for years that is still going strong to this day. Personally, kind of tired of other devs not even bother trying....

    Hey, let's release an MMO with a single 4 man lvl 50 dungeon and one raid that is being done in about an hour. That will keep people going for months, even years! Let's charge 20 bucks a month for that too! /thumbzup.

    SE doesn't care if people are logged in 24/7. All SE cares about is how much money they make each month. Same as any other company.

    If you are not happy with the game then let your wallet speak for you. And if you are not happy with the game, but you stay subscribed anyway then find something to do ingame or play other games.

    It is ok to play other games!

    Bolded for... so much wrong, even despite the obvious sarcasm. Also, I don't think you quite understood what the technology statement was... nor does it seem you knew what "forever" and "dynamic" meant. Why not stick to WoW if it's that great to you? Need a change of pace? Got bored maybe? It's kind of the point I was making there...

    Why don't you give FFXIV 8 years before you measure the level of content between the two. I was there since WoW launch, up until 4 months ago.The content wasn't exactly stellar for the first few months, nor was the stability of the game. I dare say the grinding aspect of that game was significantly longer than XIV at launch.

    Yeah, there was more varying levels of dungeons but... what's your point? Why are you discrediting the 8man instances in this game? Let's not forget the primal fights. Trying to make it seem like there's only one existing instance that people do at 50 (even for 4man). And whatever you say bro on finishing all of CoB in 1hr.

    Don't compare a game that has had almost 9 years in releasing content, with pre-existing lore and a lengthy fanbase from the WC days, to a game without much history (1.0 wasn't exactly a huge focus of development post-launch) and just recently launched a successful product.

    This supposed "decline" at 50 is because there was very limited end game content upon initial release. This game is expected to continue for years with content updates every 3 months. A year from now endgame will be far more interesting than it is now.

    content burners???? really?? u consider leveling to 50 which can be slowly done in 1 week ... repeating the same 30 min instance 30 times to get enough darklight to do coil for 2 hours a week .... u conider doing that content burning ...... your ignorance makes me laugh

    FFXIV was released into a world with MMOs 5+ years already into their lifespans. When you release a game to compete with something like Warcraft, you have to start with more content than was acceptable 5 years ago because every other game has it. FFXIV has made some major improvements since 1.0 and that's fine, but they still released a barebones game that may not be able to retain these subscription numbers.

    I want to play this game. But I don't want to log in to press hasty touch/master's mend on 6 different jobs all the way to 50 and have people say that counts as "content". I don't want to run AK or CM 10 times a week to cap tokens. And most of all, I don't want to Fate grind another job to 50. So honestly, for someone like me, there isn't a whole lot to do. I know what comes next is the "people who rushed to 50 get bored quicker" thing, however, let's be honest; it's not considered rushing anymore. The game was designed to allow you to level quickly.

    Game was design for all there FF fans that are now in there 30's and got a job, families and all the other stuff going on. So they can play and those millions not get left behind to fast. Now that they got the core of the game running and content for them. They will be able to add in the content that those that burn through the content fast can not burn content as fast. In the next few updates maybe.

    So very bored. The game had some potential but it has just become painful to log into. I would rather jump off a bridge than log in right now. Pretty mad that I payed for this month because I thought we were going to get patch 2.1 like we had been told. Maybe I'll come back and play again in a year or so, but who knows? It's just been one let down after another with SE.

    It not really a decline of population but the majority of the population have begun to play less due to the current amount of content now.

    They still play but not as often.

    You'll see them more active again once 2.1 hits and even more once 2.2 hits since 2.2 is when the Main Storyline Quests continues with the introduction of a new Primal to fight.

    Well, the marked parts are indeed true, yet every single game out there has marked their game as "unique, gamebreaking or ultimate fun" yet they fail to acomplish this due to the copy paste of other MMO systems.

    I know gathering would be fun if you actually went out there and felt like a miner, but you just go around picking rocks at nodes with no real challenge to it. Why not making a unique job system where you actually get to explore the land and work for the grand company for good rewards (no leves...) a job where you have to team up with other people and open up a mine (minecraft for example has a diferent gathering system than most games out there).

    For animal skins and things like that, making a farm and taking care of your animals to make diferent items like eggs, and such would be better than just pew pew mobs to get them. Botanist, growing plants in a hand-made glass house would be better than just running from tree to tree collecting stuff.

    I know these small changes would be a huge change for a lot of the crafting gameplay.

    As for leveling, yes there are many ways of leveling, killing monsters is one way, mini-games which are non-existant in FFXIV is other way, FATES or "world events" is other way, "leves" which is pretty much a waste of time for DoW classes, but to get gear there are better ways than having a gear threadmill where you have to do the same dungeon 80+ times to get your character geared.

    Just an idea.
