I'm pretty sure toon became more popular then char because it just sounds easier off the the tongue to say toon over char.
Still not sure why people get mental over either word choice? They are both just as bad as any other short hand choice. Do you also go crazy when someone calls an enemy a "mob"? I mean, how is that any better?
Hell, we use to call groups of mobs "zoo's", but I'm old and that was a long time ago. Just be glad some of the really old text/graphical MUD terminology is still not around.
Can I make threads complaining about other short term phrases too? Like...
Lol, rofl, lmao, AFK, LFG, LFM, WTB, SR, LoS, omg, wtf, PLD, WHM, BLM, DRG, etc?
If any of you that have a problem with the word 'toon' and used any of those terms or more then you should also feel bad as well.

If you can't appreciate the artwork that the topic creator drew then there is something wrong with you. Why do you have to be so ignorantly harsh?
In the end all toons get the DIP.

How about........charactoon?
Seriously though, avatar.
I personally never liked or used the term toon. But it's old and it's a meme, you're not going to squash it at this point. It doesn't bother me much.
Did somebody say toon? Time to bash WoW, the game the term didn't even come from.
Also lets have someone mention how the graphics are bad, and then also argue how graphics don't matter in a game.
