[Q2DEVS] "Unable to complete version check"?

Since looks like this message is common (and the random numbers are cryptic) and may or may not depend directly on SE, can we have a list of the checks the client does before triggering this message?

Something like "it checks if x file is readable" or "the server is unavailable".
Anything that can help the user to autonomously make the proper checks before opening tickets and threads. The request could be extended to all the other kinds of errors too.
