The awesome power of your intellect will let you do otherwise though. Maybe SE needs the money more than you. Or the anti RMT / anti greifing measures it provides offset the big one time fee for you. If it makes you happier to think about it this way, please do. As you will be happier. Not thinking this way will have exactly 0 effect on their decision. So you know...

My understanding was only legacy players were unable to swap servers, and not any player on a legacy server. I could have remembered it wrong though.
