Has anyone actually ever looked at the controls? Go look at the controller layout, it's possible to shift keys around to have a free-form jump button, but do you think SE is going to do that? If not and they still want to go for a regular jump button, why would they want the PS3/controller player going to their keyboard to hit space bar every time they jump?

I think this feature might be a emote and nothing more, which isn't what most players want. The ones that want a jump want it like every other MMO out there that has jump.

    Hope I'm wrong.

Also, make that every jump causes a loss of Stamina.

Hell, that sure will stop those jumping freaks to jump all day long!
I LOVE IT! Best. Idea. Yet. For. Jumping!!!

WHAT? People that don't want jump just want their experience to read like a book or movie instead of an interactive experience? That's a straw-man, son.

In my opinion, I think there is a pretty even divide between the typical FFXIV players, breaking it down to its most basic stereotypes there are: long time mmorpg players who see the genre getting "dumbed" down so to speak and enjoy a hardcore, difficult challenge where the learning curve is steep and there is an elite group of people who have spent time researching, playing, and experimenting to be the best. Then there are the people who (stereotypically) are newer to playing mmorpg's and want something that is more of a modern videogame where you can just have fun and jump in quickly.
    That you're right on.

I think this is why so many of the people who hate the idea of jumping, also hate WoW.
    So what?

They had their glory days with ________ mmorpg and want to build upon that. But like anything, times change.
    Invalid argument.

The fact is jumping is completely useless outside of some form of contextual style for it, period; even if they implement jumping free-for-all, they still can have those invisible walls preventing you from getting between Point A and B.
