what facts? there is not right and wrong facts to be applied to jumping it is just more opinions.
the only fact that can be applied to jumping is:
What must go up comes down.
and if a person wants to get around or over something, they either
A) walk around B) climb over it C) jump over or on top of it or D) go right through it.

Are we still doing this? Boring.
SE barely cares, and even that's only because the issue is still "alive", or it's the deadest most beaten horse of all time and they're smart enough to feign acknowledgment of your "concerns" as any good company will.
Let it go.
Talk about something else, anything else. The opinions on the subject are so well known at this point further dialog is as bad as the advent of 24/7 news channels. It's that same stupid story about that same stupid thing that's not really newsworthy over and over on the hour every hour for days.
SE will do whatever the hell they feel like doing and they think is best anyhow. Just wait and see. Enjoy the ride.

Enter fantasy game; complain about lack of realism.
You people are an embarrassment.
If you really want Free-Roaming Jump, then make it real.
Make it so that you can slip on the ground, hurt your feet and make a faceplant causing Bleed DoT, so you'll think twice before jumping.
Also, make that every jump causes a loss of Stamina.
Hell, that sure will stop those jumping freaks to jump all day long!
The stamina loss for jump is the only thing in there I agree with in the regards of preventing jump freaks, but I thought they said stamina is being changed or taken out with the new battle system...If you really want Free-Roaming Jump, then make it real.

Seems to me like the majority of people who don't want jump are older gamers who want their experience to read more like a book or movie than an interactive experience. The other crowd who does want jump wants to be able to freely interact with the world because they feel it will make the world feel more dynamic.
In my opinion, I think there is a pretty even divide between the typical FFXIV players, breaking it down to its most basic stereotypes there are: long time mmorpg players who see the genre getting "dumbed" down so to speak and enjoy a hardcore, difficult challenge where the learning curve is steep and there is an elite group of people who have spent time researching, playing, and experimenting to be the best. Then there are the people who (stereotypically) are newer to playing mmorpg's and want something that is more of a modern videogame where you can just have fun and jump in quickly.
I think this is why so many of the people who hate the idea of jumping, also hate WoW. They had their glory days with ________ mmorpg and want to build upon that. But like anything, times change.
Also, anyone who pulls the "it's not realistic" card...cmon. I fail to see how people can say it isn't realistic to jump when we have skills where you jump in the air and do a backflip and fire multiple arrows. Stop being so worried that person X might do something that you might not like. A video game is supposed to be a simulation based on a set of rules; a set of rules that also obviously has limitations.
