yes either way, it's something they can implement into XIV and work fine lol. I do hope its free jumping... because there is specific times I really would like to jump over something like a fence in the way or a cliff that I could jump onto the ledge but I have to walk 15 feet to get around?

That was the kind of game play SE should have given us. But we get more of the same now so best to just forget that this was a possibility.

lol yep... and to think it is the same damn engine running both shows the dedication and innovation differences between the 2 dev teams. one makes a fun unique battle system and game play with the engine. the other copy pastes FFXI with just more active involvement in combat, and it isnt even polished well managed system on the engine.

ya when I played XIII i was very disappointed with the jump feature haha should of been a bit more freedom than a dot on the floor should be the whole length of that piece you are trying to jump not that specific spot, expecially when it came to boxes lol.

What a great reason to not implement jumping. *hugs*

I wasn't aware that having an opinion required a formal stated reason.

    Let me rectify this situation.

I don't want jump because if you can jump anytime / anywhere (like WoW) the world will start to look ridiculous. You'll also have to animate every possible body type doing this ridiculous action and see it every time you look in at this ridiculous world you just created.

I don't want jump because if jump is controlled by trigger points in the environment, like several other FF titles with the "jump" action you will have to program all those points as well as all the aforementioned animations as well as redefine zone barriers in general. This would have been cool if you'd done it before the game is released, but it sounds like a lot of work that I'd rather developers spend making mounts or developing battles or piloting airship - any number of other ways to either get around more easily as well as interact with your environment. Programing jump points would be a frivolous waste of effort.

There you go, mate. I still didn't read the thread and I still agree with it 100%.

If they do implement jumping, perhaps they can think of something like what the devs did for FFX-2, with climbing AND jumping at certain places. The jumping wasn't as...unrealistic...as I thought it would be though it was still a bit high. Still, pugilists jump like...five times their height?....when they use seismic shock or something like that, and I don't see people complaining about that. o.o

But yes, I don't want free-jumping all over the place. At certain areas, yes, it can be implemented, like around ledges, or over pit-holes or empty spots over bridges.
