Well, the "ragajada" (suffixes) are simply nonsense syllables that mean 1, 2, 3 and 4. Perhaps the trouble was that people who played FFXI assumed "-ga" meant AOE and not "2". (Maybe that was due an unfortunate choice by the FFXI designers or translators--I don't know.) Clearly in FF14 the suffixes returned to their original FF meanings. In alpha and early beta, the suffixes were there and "-ga" didn't always mean AOE, nor should it have.

As for the other translation differences: All languages are imprecise. Word choice can be an art and translation doubly so. Like movie remakes and song covers, people will like different versions for different reasons.
