I support the idea of transportation not being exclusive to Chocobos, and will provide my opinions as follows.

I believe motor vehicles could be a viable method of transportation, lore-wise the technology is available, it just hasn't been put to use in more practical purposes.

With that having been said, having access to such a commodity (or rather luxury) would come with a price, either through rental price or difficulty in obtaining, and a proficiency requirement. Craftable motor-driven transportation should require most of the available Disciples of the Hand to create. Examples as follows.

    Alchemist: Lubricants, Fuels & Windshields
    Armorer: Exterior & Motor
    Blacksmith: Chassis & Hardware
    Carpenter: Seating Framework/ Assembly
    Goldsmith: Gauges/Delicate instruments
    Leatherworker: Interior & Seating
    Weaver: Interior & Seating

With all the parts finished, it would most likely require that an Armorer of Blacksmith assemble the vehicle. With those examples in mind, I would suggest that such tasks would only be successful by high tier craftsmen/craftswomen (40-50.)

This could continue to solidify bonds between the crafting jobs, and keep them working together for a common goal.

As for the taming suggestion, the creature in question should exclude NMs, should vanish once dismounted (unless ability permits), and possibly have race restrictions on certain creatures. Ex. A Lalafell could manage a wolf, but a Roegadyn would just break it.

    Bicycles are also fun.
