[dev1082] Alternatives Forms of transportation

Hello all,

After reading the producers letter today on said "Mount system" not being exclusive to chocobos, what other types of Final Fantasy creatures can you think of, that would fill the position of 'Mount'?

If not organic life, what about built/crafted rides. I think that would be a good alternative to the chocobo or along side them. Look at the Garleans they get some wicked robots, why can't the common adventurer build their own automated friend to catch a ride on?

what about a simple bike?

Ohmygosh yes! This would be so awesome. I would love to build my own mode of transport. Also, I would like to be able to ride a dragon or toad as well. As a crafter being able to build transportation would be a very cool thing to do.

I vote Yes to an alternate mode of transportation.

I would like to see flying mounts such as dragons. I think that would be fun to control and fly over the world.

If they are going to add other types of mounts they need to be careful. It has to make sense and match the FF world, or it will just seem tacky.

I think asking for flying mounts is asking to much. The world is split into zones so you couldn't just fly anywhere, the game world isn't built to be viewed from the air. Blizzard had to rebuild zones to enable flying on WoW. I can't see Square doing that nor do i want them to.

a combonation of bsm and arm could make motorcycles and you could color the parts and stuff, maybe even add little odds and ends. the garleans have robots, so why can't the rest of the world have -some- technology. motorcycles seem pretty simple compared to some stuff the garleans have.

Seizing control of the Empire's flying Machina thingies (or aid companies in building their own variations) could open up a new form of transportation as well.

Why not? Just because it's "Like wow?" Maybe having a multitude of mounts will give players something to aim for once they've gotten tired with raiding or questing. Some mounts may be extremely rare and only a few people may have them. I somehow doubt that the dev team would design anything that was really out of place compared to the rest of the game.

I'm thinking maybe have Tamer job and tame animals for you to ride temporarily. Like maybe ride it for 15-20 minutes max or until you get off and it's gone. It has to be mobs the tamer can handle though, don't want to see anyone riding biast or a gobbue to town.
