Does anybody know how gear will work in PvP?

When I played Guildwars 2 I dabbled in PvP a little bit. In that game, the normal PvP (not world vs world) everyone had level sync and the same gear, to even the playing field. Now, this was a smart idea to keep things fair, but it also pretty much rendered PvE useless (unless you just wanted to learn the story or relax). Does anyone know if this will be the case in ARR? I would much rather have to be good at PvE to get good items for PvP, than an even playing field.

There will be PvP only equip to attain so I think stuff will not be levelled that way.

only think known is that morale stat will play a factor in lessening the attacks of players.

Blizzard dabbled with many PvP systems and ultimately decided it was better to even the playing field. If I had to guess, I'd say SE is likely to take the same approach, by offering everyone(regardless of skill level) the same access to gear, to prevent top tier players from completely controlling the brackets.

While it may seem fair to pass out PvP geared based on player skill, you chance creating a situation with people wearing the absolute best, making it difficult for players that are new and/or trying to gear, sit at an unfair disadvantage.

Hmm I see. I understand that side of the coin, but it just lowers the incentive to do PvE so much more.

Well, Yoshi stated that crafted gear will play a role. Then there's also the materia system.

A PVP community that keeps itself alive can shake up the economy a bit, providing a need for customized gear, food, potions, etc..

The best mmo ever (daoc) you received gear from PvE, and you used it to PvP.

It was not too bad because there was stat caps and the gear wasn't too hard to obtain, and took a mix of pve drops and crafted items. Once getting geared though u weren't required to PvE for new gear when new content came out.. except toa which everyone hated. You could upgrade gear still but it was mainly procs and item /use abilities that upgraded...

I'm not saying it should be exactly like this... but I never liked getting gear from PvP.. and always preferred gaining small advantages through gaining abilities over time like in daoc. However they'd have to be usable only in PvP.

I don't think this day in age PvP gear/advantages should be obtainable by PvE, Aion ruined that for me more than anything.

Why? Being good at PvP requires just as much time and effort as it does for PvE. You can't arrange matches with friends, so the system is not easily abusable.
I'm really tired of PvP players being treated like second class citizens or something. You can't get the best PvP gear in 5 minutes any more than you can get the best PvE gear in the same amount of time.

PvE gear can be used in PvP and vice versa, however the stats offered on each type of gear will be different as the needs of eahc group differ.

I think it's the same, need to PvP to earn PvP gear.
Some (starter) PvP gear is craftable. I expect you'll be able to use any gear you want in PvP, but PvE gear doesn't and won't offer any PvP specific stats (and those PvP stats won't be especially useful for PvE.)
