Instanced dungeons, cross server activities, teleporting, battleground/instanced PvP make current mmos lose any sense of adventure.

I don't think I'll ever find a game that kept me as entertained as much or as long as DAOC did. Even the PvE or atleast the leveling was fun, even though it was quite a grind.

I enjoyed games where leveling was the big grind (content spread out so not always doing same thing). Most new mmos the level grind is really fast, and the gear grind is long... but that gear grind is usually doing just a few dungeons or raids that get boring and repetitive. Open world dungeons were fun, with loot coming from mostly trash, made it seem like less of a chore, and more killing for a purpose, other than delaying your run to get to guy that drops loot. Plus, you weren't max level for most of these... so if you didn't get loot, you atleast got exp towards a level. And it wasn't always predictable with spawns or 100% scripted fights.

Sure DAOC had issues especially with toa and later... but i miss it , and feel like most modern mmos are going the wrong direction.

That's not even counting the absolutely amazing open world PvP.
