I have a 50 Paladin and a couple DPS in the 20s. I had to change the filter settings before I was content with targeting. The biggest limitation on my Paladin is you only have 16 actions per hot bar. I am using about 18 actions regularly now and switching between hot bars in battle is easy but feels like needless extra work. The number of actions you have on the gamepad hot bar is my only real annoyance. I am in a free company that moved to FF14 after a PS3 online RPG shut down. Most of them are on PS3 because of this and no one has any problems playing all of the classes. So you should be fine on almost everything except minor things like hot bars, screen load times, and major FATEs like Odin.

I think BLM will be easiest on PS3. All they really have to do is spam their rotation and dodge stuff.

You will encounter the biggest difference for healing classes (because focustarget and mouseover macros are really handy) and stunning/silencing classes.

My main is a DRG, but I've been leveling everything else. I'd say that DPS is the easiest to manage on the PS#, the only real issues comes from target switching and terrible camera controls at times. Just setup your filters in the setting and you should be good to go.

A USB Keyboard is a must for chatting though.

Best bet would be DPS class. Personally my "controller alt" is a BLM (though SMN sounds like itd be easier). The long casts give you more time to think on what your next move should be. That and DPS is the most forgiving job for making mistakes.

Worse of the DPS would probably be MNK, theyre not only the fastest class but they rely on positional damage.

Might just be me though, toughest thing about the controller for me is the annoying targetting.

I don't know, I play all my classes and jobs equally as well and I'm on a PS3. Mind you, I didn't start on a PS3, started playing last year as evidenced by the join date, so I was playing PC. Still used a controller. Switched to PS3 at launch and have never looked back. I've only ever had trouble targeting during the early Beta when there was no controller, I always had to play with the camera so I could have a clear line on what I wanted to target so I wasn't clicking on everything but. That said, I strongly prefer controllers over mouse and keyboard. It's just that much easier for me.

They're implementing another set of actions when pressing both L2+R2 soon. Please look forward to it.

I've been using my ps3 controller with the scarlet crush drivers since controllers were supported. I've come to prefer this method.

Only real troubles I've had was getting used to the targeting and getting filters set up to my preferences.
