Having a authenticator does NOT stop the "Suspicious Activity" problem. I CTD about 10 times one night in about a 20min time span while messing with GPU clocks and testing stability. I was locked out of my account a few hours later. I have a authenticator, and my IP doesn't change. The system appears to pick up on multiple logins in a short time. It doesn't care about IP or if you have a authenticator. It's an absurd system, and is very flawed. But then again most of what SE has done shows little foresight, or proper testing.

If you log in from multiple IP's and have a authenticator you shouldn't have problems. If you log in with different IP's and don't have a authenticator you *may* get the "Suspicious Activity" lockout. If you login multiple times in a short period from the same IP with or without an authenticator you will get a "Suspicious Activity" lockout. IP only seems to matter when login in normally from different locations without a authenticator.
