I very much want this to be a gatherer that focuses on mob drops. Would be awesome if they could use particular mobs in the outer world as companions with the ability to also use them as mounts.

As another PvE/PvP job I don't think I would care for it much. There are other potentials that I find more interesting.

14 was my 1st mmo, plus 1st rpg type game I played in 20 years so I never played 11 beastmaster or other ff beastmasters but I've heard of this job during my time in 14 and I really want it.

When I resubbed to ESO earlier this year I played thier Warden class, it's the only beast master I've played and it was really fun.

With all the BST threads over the years, it is by far the most requested job out there. You gotta know SE may not take every suggestion to heart, but there are too many BST threads to count. New one every week it seems.

A FFXIV Youtuber suggested capturing or taming monsters be a solo activity, while dungeons are the group activity. I don't mind that perse; I simply don't want to be hampered by what we can and cannot tame due to group mechanics. In that case, just make it a solo job.

It is utterly ridiculous that XI's BST only has rabbits, crabs, sheep mainly, disregarding the rest of the bestiary. Like, 70% of it actually. Hydra, Behemoth, nothing outside of spoken and summons should be off limits. Even if they are a brief onscreen appearance like Bahamut.

To me, it is not a matter of getting BST, it is what kind of BST are we getting? XI's version is terrible. The game in general is great, so how terrible BST was in that game is overlooked. One man is to blame for it, but I aint saying no names or anything....All I am saying is he needs to rework the "Vision" of it.

I wonder if we'll ever get new crafters or gatherers, I'm still waiting on that Sheppard gatherer that was suppose to be in 1.0 that I heard about on speakers of hydelyn podcast.

Honestly, I like the idea of BST being a solo-gathering job focused on the animal parts (this was mentioned above by another)

    Or...

Full on tank. Except the beast tanks while the beast master is a pseudo support dps. Maybe the monster attacks what the player does, or stands opposite the player for facing purposed (so bst stands at rear)

If BST becomes a non-limited job, it'll probably be a melee maiming job since we just got a ranged DPS.

Chances are, because SE is moving away from pet classes for SMN and SCH, it would make sense to make a limited job that isn't inherently related to the main content/game a pet class. This would allow the complicated -and potentially fun aspects- of the the pet class to be fully demonstrated for those who miss that aspect on the SCH/SMN, allow the job to be overpowered with stronger tamed creatures breaking the balance at the same level like BLU, and at the same time prevent such a 'difficult design/gameplay' from interfering with regular content (though I hope I'm wrong about managing pets being too difficult because some people do miss that aspect entirely as a 'pet' job in SCH and in regular content). If BST does become a thing, there's more likely a chance for it to become a limited job of collecting and taming creatures around the world (and I'll love that aspect; been waiting to tame some animals in Yanxia).

I just hope they add more content for limited jobs in particular - and not just in the collection sense but more of a dungeon sense & a roulette for events. That way people can play both BLU and BST together, bringing back some joy and making those jobs fun and not just a one-off thing where you collect and then have no content you can run together with. It'll make finding a party for the job less difficult as there are content to run BLU with.

What she said, I believe this was actually mentioned in an interview somewhere. That if they make another limited job, it'll be beastmaster

Personally imagine Beastmaster being advanced job like Blue Mage. "Wait- shougun.. blue mage is limited". EeeehhYY! Don't shatter my dreams! lol.

Where blue mage is normal job and a solo legend (useful particularly in clearing instanced content), beast master would be normal job and a unique mix of DoL in it's own special vein. Taking a lot of the key concepts they vaguely mentioned about Shepard long ago, and working it into a job that completes the harvesting of resources from the open world (BOT/FSH/MIN being of not monster material). Where I think you might have a pinnacle of beast taming side limited content that does indeed give beastmaster substantial solo strengths (compared to other jobs), but still mostly the limited side is for it's DoL qualities all wrapped up into a neat package (not a rip of the current land systems, BST having it's own systems of engagement that meet the theme of taming the wild best- so most likely more in-depth lol).

Like what I was hoping for blue mage the limited side of that job, and of BST, would be very approach-able and not in any way require players to have to "main it all the way or 'why bother'". Like one of the concepts I latched onto for blue mage was that it's powerlevel (when in limited format) came largely from spells learned (meaning you'd want to learn all the spells, and even spells you don't really have a use for yet would still have value and in that way you wouldn't have to spend your tomes on blue mage limited side in order to make it a worth while content as someone who wouldn't 'main' the normal side of the job). So like that the limited side of BST would allow players to enjoy it without having to go all in on the normal side (there would still be progression systems of course! but you'd not have to spend your end game progression tokens to enjoy the side portion).

In terms of combat I imagined it would have a lot of interactions with their pet, but unlike SMN the interactions would be more like teamwork and playing off each other. Rather SMN in some ways IS the egi so their will be done as themselves (and this is more true in the recent version than previously, which honestly I'm happy with- glad they're going this more dissida yuna way), while BST you're working with another conscious entity so I think that sense of 'teamwork' would be a great thing to build off. There you'd have combat abilities that'd play off each other, your pet maybe using an action that boosts some of your attacks, you them, those chrono trigger like combos (or other games like that), maybe a certain combo string has no positional on the enemy but rather has positional of where you stand by your pet, though of course there would still be commands (attack this, follow me) just a higher emphasis on unity while SMN keeps growing towards 'my will be done' (as it started to go in the latest expansion rework). Because the pet is conscious they can also respond to you getting hurt or crowd controlled, like reducing debuff duration in automated protection of you, or use a baby version of Paladin cover if you'd get hit, alternatively if you're in the clear and they're not they might have a cooldown check that before damage is registered will cause them to do a dodge animation as if they leaped out of the area and back in (helping them be less of a chore to manage, though cooldown shouldn't be too fast). Would be interesting if, at least on the limited side, the had some personalities a bit like Trust characters, may be able to bring that idea of personalities in a 'normal' / balanced format via archetype aspects (like telling them to take on the aspect of the raptor for x gambit effects and bonuses).

Ultimately it would annoy me less if it was just limited, compared to Blue, but I feel that's unnecessary beyond that it just costs resources to make full jobs compared to lesser limited ones and worry if anyone would experience what I did with blue. As I still definitely long for a more impactful blue than what we have and am still not impressed with what we have- while having had previously really wanted to play blue (in fact probably one of the few that asked for it really early on- many many years ago, not the only one of course just one of the few who had wanted it which makes the long desire having turned into lack of desire feel worse).

They vastly expanded the species-range and capabilities of jug pets starting around 2010.
