In the most recent live letter, Director Yoshida made a comment about how Bards were just a "little bit" too powerful, due to their mechanics. I understand that, as much as I love the job for its DPS capabilities, I understand that wasnt it's original role, as a support class. However, it is still a viable DPS role as well, when it isnt lending support with its song's. The big thing there was, because it was labled as a Support role (even though it carries the DPS colored tag), our Limit Break was Support, not DPS. That seemed like a fair trade, honestly. We don't get to partake in the LB, but we do get to maintain a good damage chain.


But now you may be considering rending us of that, so how about giving Bards something they've wanted since the game launched. A DPS - Ranged style Limit Break?

This could also work as a foundation for future range DPS Class/Jobs to be introduced in the future, such as Corsair, Musketeer, Rangers, etc etc.

Because quite honestly, if you destroy our DPS capabilities, and not give us something in exchange, it's really going to spoil the fun for people who queue up for a 4 man run as a Bard, only to find themselves with another Bard and bam, no DPS LB to help drive a mob's health down in a crucial moment, since our DPS wont be sufficient to compensate. That is, of course, if you do in fact reduce it.

Please consider it and we shall look forward to it.

Try out the changes first. You still have your current BRD for at least a few more months; we don't know what changes there'll be, maybe they won't even lower BRD's damage but push the other's up a bit.

Then why shouldn't they fix those "uselessness" before making the already too powerful BRD even more powerful?

I dunno. I've been in a few situations where the BRD has saved the run by using Pulse of Life plenty of times. Like the others, just wait and see what they have planned.

They may make it so we stop to attack and must be more than 5 yalms away to even get some Combo Effects like in 1.0 (pls no, lol).

this will give monk and dragoon more opportunity to shining

So much this. It makes perfect sense for a ranged support class to have access to that saving grace.

It was sad to see WHM+PLD+DRG+BRD left standing and the rest of the party on the ground, and the BRD ignores repeated calls for an support LB.

Even worse is some BRDs don't even have Limit Break on their hotbars because they say it's "useless".

Nerf is what people are crying about, yet I don't think they mentioned anything about nerfing.

Its not about how much Damage bards can put out.

Its about how much Damage the Bard can put out while moving.

I expect to see changes to Songs so Bards use them more and Cast Times added so your DPS is limited on the move, like all other Jobs. Yes, even Summoners since they need to stop and recast their DoTs.

What i don't expect is a flat nerf to Bard Damage.

You haven't been reading the forum enough... People are going to complain about the changes, then SE will make the changes and then people will complain even more about the changes... When someone defends the changes they will be ganged up on and told that they are white knights or troll's...
