I couldn't be happier with 1.17b

I logged onto my beloved Lodestone today, and much to my delight the patch notes for 1.17b were posted. And to be brutally honest, this far outweighed my expectations.

We weren't even supposed to /get/ another version before 1.18. But clearly Square-Enix will push itself to deliver the fixes and the changes necessary to improve the in-game systems and go beyond player expectations. Although this is the fifth or sixth update addressing the targeting system, these things take time. Rome wasn't built in day after all.

It's a pleasant surprise, albeit a bit shocking, that the default targeting mode is A. This is a move that will affect a majority of players, and although it might be strange at first, it is a change that I would consider necessary moving forward with development.

I think that we can /all/ appreciate the finer details of the patch such as fixing the but where gnats sometimes did not link. This was hurting the experience and immersion of the game for a few of my friends that play.

And God knows how long I've been stumped on the side quest "Seashells by the Seashore". Now I can finally complete it and obtain the luxurious boiled crayfish~! *licks lips uncontrollably*

Much to my dismay and many others, it looks like the boost for Muscle Memory II has yet to be unveiled. Perhaps this will be part of a big quest to solve the enigmatic bonuses it contains!!!

Sometimes I can't help but weep with unadulterated joy at the knowledge I am part of something nearing such elegant perfection. Run by a company that is able to so promptly address these major issues, I can proudly say you've got my attention Square (and by the looks of it, this patch has /everyone/ talking!!!)

...to be honest, I don't even understand what Target C is or how it works.

I also don't know what "allows players to specify targeting behavior when pressing confirm without a target selected" really means either.

I guess if words strung loosely together that have no meaning out of in-game context get you excited, then awesome. ^^

You know if you click on cure, and then a purple circle pops up, and then you press enter?

I think it gets rid of that, so when you click cure, it cures your target instantly.

EDIT: Just tried it. Doesn't do that x_x

Well a quick test proves that incorrect. Doesn't auto-target Provoke either.

I think it gets rid of that, so when you click cure, it cures your target instantly.

If you're using /tmode B and have it set to "friendly" or "party" only, typing "/dtar on" would allow you to press confirm to target the mob right in front of you? Keeping it set as "/dtar off" would only allow you to target friendly or party targets? That's how I read it, but can't try it cuz I'm fishing -shrugs-

Stopped fishing for a sec and that seemed to work. While set to "friendly", pressing confirm would only target myself. Then typing /dtar on let me target the dodo across the pond. That's the only use I can see for it. When you set "friendly" "party" or "enemy" targeting.

I'm not a stupid person, but this has gone way over my head.
If /dtar only affects Mode B, though, then whatever. I hate Mode B. I think it's ridiculous.

Explain the difference between Mode A & C to me RQ.

I am beside myself with this new patch. Its everything I wanted and more. I can't tell you how many times I wanted targeting to be patch, more than 6 times fixing the same targeting system is like a dream. I feel like my prayers have been answer.

My wishlist for the next patch would be:
more targeting fixes
I want rats the big as whales
two more text only quests (people who can't read, SCREW YOU)<--joke

Anything else is pure blessing given to us by SE.
