The only two things mouse and keyboard gameplay needs to be good prior to 2.0.

Ok, honestly I think the game has come pretty far now with the m/kb setup. I really like being able to bind to almost anything.

Alright, on to the two things I think would make the mouse and keyboard gameplay almost up to standards. First, let me right click to start attacking an enemy. This is so simple I have no idea why this has not been implemented yet knowing that Yoshida is a mouse and keyboard player. If in passive mode, this should take us into active and autolock if we have that option enabled. Honestly while playing with mouse and keyboard this is the most aggravating thing. When a mob dies and I try to frantically select my next target and then have to comfirm again to get my action bars up to taunt/use whatever skill?! YES I WANT TO ATTACK!

The next thing. Having to click up and down on the little arrows to move the action bars is really annoying. Let me bind this to scroll wheel. Or to my Back and Forward Mouse buttons. Hell, give us the option to rebind mouse keys all together. This way i can bind zoom in/out to shift+scroll wheel and change view or reset view to scroll wheel button. Being able to acquire targets quickly and have my all my abilities at the ready(well, not quite until we have all 3 bars on screen till 2.0 but close enough) would make the game a much more enjoyable experience when fighting.

Other usefull tips:
Press both mouse buttons? Move forward! (like every other game)
Casting a spell and want to cancel it fast? Let us press escape to cancel! (Also, having an extra animation, and with it an animation lock, for canceling a spell is just silly in my opinion.)
Let us rebind the action bar! (this probably isnt coming till 2.0 but just wishfull thinking.)
Let us check a PC by right clicking!
Let us trade a PC by double-rightclicking!
Let us browse a PC by triple-rightclicking!(haha i jk)
Let us send a tell to a PC by shift-rightclicking!

I'm sure there are others but those are the only ones I can think of at the moment. If one of you awesome reps could get word on improving controls I would love it. I mean.. I loved playing FFXI with gamepad. And I enjoy playing FFXIV with a gamepad.. . but recently I tried the keyboard configs and tried rebinding the keys to a more natural setup and realized how close the game is to having an enjoyable experience when playing on mouse and keyboard. I would love to be able to jump from m/kb to gamepad and back again at any given time. But at this point, m/kb still feels abit weird, and it shouldnt at all. It should feel natural.
