Moogle mail - Issues (200 char limit!?!)

Okay there are two issues I have with moogle mail, one is kind of minor but still something I'd like to see changed and the other one is pretty major.

The minor one is, why can we only send moogle mail to people on our friends list?!?! At least make it so you can send it to members of your LS' and FC, it's superannoying right now if I'm crafting something or giving something a fellow LS or FC member and I have to add them to my already cluttered friends list.. I use my friends list primarily for people outside of my LS' and FC.

Now the second issue is big, why impose a 200 character limit for moogle mail? This is super annoying, right now whenever I send longer mails I have to split them up into 5 or even 7-8 seperate mails making them very hard to read and a bit incoherent. In my opinion they should increase the character limit AT LEAST by 10 times, I don't understand why we have this SMS character limit in the 21st century..

I feel they did the mail just for on your friends list to cut down on spam.

As for the char limit, they thought again, on the eastern world, japanese words can be put in one symbol, while we need alot more letters.

If you think it's annoying having to send that much mail, just think how bad it is for the poor souls who have to actually read it all.

I'd agree with both points. On the plus side, I have a lot more people on my friends list than I have in previous MMOs But, it does feel very cluttered. I don't typically send long mail messages, but I feel for people that do. Whether it be for RP purposes, or for folks who are explaining why they might be absent, or keep getting online when their friend isn't.. the 200 character limit is a bit tiny.

It definitely seems like it's a cultural thing. But it's a frustrating thing that shouldn't be hard to fix :/

I'm glad we can only receive mail from people on our friends list otherwise I'm pretty sure I'd have to delete a bunch of RMT messages telling me where and how to buy gil ~___~ The thing about LS/FC being able to send me messages, it could work but, it could backfire as well. For example, not all LS/FC are made up from only the nicest of the nice people. And some of the less nice ones might not get expelled from the LS/FC, for whatever reason, resulting in possible spam and abuse. Heaven forbid a RMT gets a hold on one of their accounts, as we see it happen. For better or worse I can just add people from my LS/FC when needed. Sure it delays the whole thing a while but it's no biggie.

As for the character limit.... Personally, I'm glad that I never have to read more than 200 characters per mail in game >.> We have both LS and FC forums where we can have lengthier conversations, if there ever is a need for one. If I need to tell anyone something in bigger detail I'll just ask them via Moogle Mail to take a look at our forums.

I respectfully disagree :3 . If you're reading the quest dialogue then you're easily reading more than 200 characters in game already, it seems an arbitrary and illogical limit..

I'm pretty sure this was ruined for the innocent by RMT spammers/buyers. I have to get a friend to pass things to my mule, it's annoying.

On a side note, I have seen a level 1 character at the mog mail box in gridania for weeks on end. He literally stands there with the mail targeted, every once in a while he's gone but not for long long. I'm talking hours on end, every time I go by... and he's still level 1. His name is not something like asedfasdf but it's also not a very legit looking name either. It bugs me that I don't know what he's doing, because what in this game would require being at the mailbox for hours? All marketing is done via retainers. Someone help me understand!?!

You'd think so but, I like reading quest dialogue but dislike long emails for example. Love reading books, but LOATHE long sms messages that people send to my phone. Sometimes love long forum posts, sometimes can't be bothered to read. And so on and so forth.... I don't know what's up with that, or whether I need any logical explanation. It just is what it is /shrug

Could be a RMT char collecting gil/mats/whatever from other RMT chars that's on their friendslist(?) Like.... a RMT bank? o.O;;;

This 200 character limit is SERIOUSLY maddening! I often have friends send me a letter asking me questions about things in the game that require some writing room to properly reply to them with the information that they need. This horrible 200 character limit makes this impossible! Why hinder a player helping out another player in this way? Why dose Square Enix insist on punishing its players like this? Why can't this be reset from 200 to at least 400 characters to make this a more positive gaming experience rather then a horribly aggravating one? After so many bad experiences with a game rather they are big or small, people WILL leave & NEVER come back!
