Get disconnected from the server while playing the game and at times while logging in

Does your internet get use by everyone on your University? If it does then there too much load then you get D/c from FFXIV because of packet lost. When i have a uttorrent up i try and put it on the lowest download speed and find the right spot so i can still download and not lag but never get d/c from ffxiv do to internet problems.

Yes, it does indeed get used by a LOT of people in my university.

If I read that correctly, you say you only get disconnected from the FFXIV server while you're downloading torrents?..

yeah, that was something i read on another forum and tried myself at home, where i have a stable connection.

At college/uni it doesn't matter, since i can't really control who is using torrents and who isn't, apart from other large amounts of internet usage anyway.

Can see if this helps. Alternatively, your network administrator may be the one limiting the number of open connections router side - To allow everyone a chance to use the network and to prevent p2p apps from overloading the network.

If you are torrenting while playing, no sympathies for you there - do your downloads while sleeping?

Regarding Aion, Aion servers are region based so tends to be closer to you. FF servers are all in Japan.
And were you on Aion during open beta? Connection was so bad it was unplayable -> Turned out an ISP (forgot which) was filtering out traffic to their servers on the east coast.
Unless the issue lies with SE's data center and the ISP they use, I highly doubt they can do anything for you.

That said, I also encounter these errors from time to time. Never seen it on FFXI but luckily for me, it is rare enough that it doesn't interfere with my gameplay. Usually happen during log-in but re-trying will get past the issue.

It's just something I tried that I read on another thread, but at college, even if I don't have my torrents on, it doesn't mean that others aren't using it or dling.

I had this happen just a few minutes ago. I was in a leve and got R/O'd at 0. This was the first time this has happened to me in months. It used to happen every night right around 1030pm/1100pm. I could never stay connected, it was an every night thing and it was getting very annoying. I did everything I was told to do. Port forwarding, testing my connection, etc. Nothing seemed to work. However, after Yoshi took over, things got better. I stopped being disconnected and I could now leave my game on all night with my bazaar up and repairs getting taken care of and wouldnt be d/c'd when I got up in the morning. This is the first time i've logged in since the shutdown. I hope this isnt something thats going to continue. I guess only time will tell. I dont want to go through another few months of this.
