    Get disconnected from the server while playing the game and at times while logging in

    Details:

    I have been receiving this problem right from the time I started playing Final Fantasy XIV a few months ago. Every few minutes, (this ranges from 3 mins- 5mins to 20mins) after having logged in to the game, I receive a "13001 Error occurred during the connection to lobby server." error, or a "300002 Error occurred due to timeout." error.

    I have almost no lag while playing the game. I can play with full graphic settings with no problems. But, if you could consider it, there is some sort of unstable connection between the FFXIV server and me for some reason. This is because I frequently find myself getting r0ed. As in the connection status goes into red and 0. Then, most of the time, I error out. But this is annoying because such a thing never happens with ANY other online game.

    I have tried resetting my Net connection, including unplugging the wire(which is directly connected to my computer, I use a University Network) and replugging it no effect. I can successfully play games such as Aion, Runescape and any other Online game without being disconnected even once during my session. Yet, due to this problem, the game is almost unplayable for me, especially due to the fact that the bulk of the content is instance related, I either get a failed leve, get kicked out of the party and with it the behest or have to redo a story quest instance all over again just because I have been disconnected.

    Steps:

    1. Experienced a error/disconnection from the FFXIV server even when my internet is stable and connected while playing FINAL FANTASY XIV.
    2. Attempted to log back in immediately after the game crash by restarting the game.
    3. Either
    A. Received one of the following errors about 3 minutes after I attempted to log in.

    ==============================
    13001 error
    No response from server.
    Connection timed out.
    ==============================

    and

    ==============================
    30002 error
    No response from server.
    Connection timed out.
    ==============================

    (Please note that this is how the error message looks like, there are a lot more numbers within brackets. I have not checked but they seem to change. I will post them if requested.)

    OR

    B. Was able to log back into the game and after 5-15 mins got either one of the above errors.

    4. This has been happening without fail for the past few months and is indeed very frustating. It has NEVER stopped happening, there is absolutely no period when I have been able to log on without being errored out for more than 30-35 mins max.

    5. The game never crashes, but I always get one of these errors, almost always when I'm about to start or am doing a behest or a Guild Leve.

    Date & Time: Everyday, whatever the time.
    Frequency: Always
    Platform: PC
    PC Manufacturer & Model Number: Custom compiled Computer
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
    Graphics Card: Radeon HD 6850
    ISP: TATA
    Type of Internet Connection: LAN Network

    Any help will be greatly appreciated. I really really want to get to the higher levels >_<.

    Thanks in advance!

    I would recommend forwarding some ports on your router, but since you're using your University's connection you probably can't do that. Coincidentally, I've heard of a lot of people having problems when using a school network.

    This is a very common issue.. you just don't hear about it as much anymore since a lot of people gave up and quit. Usually it starts happening after an update, or after an improper disconnect.. and then it just never goes away.

    I found this ZAM thread that would probably be worth reading through.

    I've been having this problem too, I was beginning to think it might be partially my router that was causing the problem, as my browser would sometimes go dead as well, it still doesn't explain why it takes forever to log back in though. Also, I wouldn't mind trying to open ports in my router, especially since my .NAT settings are at a moderate setting,
    but I have absolutely no idea how to do this as my modem/router was set up by my ISP.

    If it takes 3-5 minutes to log back in after a disconnect, that's because your connection to the server takes that long to be completely purged. It won't let you log-in twice.

    This site might help you with port forwarding:

    http://portforward.com/

    Make sure you hit "Skip this ad" in the top right corner if your page isn't showing up. These are supposedly the ports you're supposed to forward for FFXIV.

    TCP 54992-55551

    UDP 55296-55551

    TCP 80

    TCP 443

    So, I can't port forward, but then why is this problem only occuring with FFXIV? As i said, my friend was logged on to Aion from my computer using the same connection for over two hours, without a single disconnect or error. This is getting freaking pathetic and very annoying. I even got TWICE in just 5 - 10 mins today! Why isn't square doing something about this? I have submitted a suggestion and I'll even post this in the bugs section. But seriously, I'm now more concerned about being able to just LOG IN to FFXIV and currently don't even care about the new content. I just want to able to be logged in for more than 30 mins!

    I have the same problem and added a post in the bug forum.

    It drives me crazy!!!!

    I am on my personal network and the behavior is so...

    1. 100% of the time it bombs within a few minutes of logging in for the first time
    2. Drops 2-3 times in a 2 hours session
    3. And for whatever reason around 11PM EST it tends to drop. Like clockwork.

    SQUEENIX, WHAT IS THIS DAMN 30002 ERROR!!!!!!!

    30002 is just a general error for losing your connection to the server. There are hundreds of things that could cause it.

    One of the issues is that if you drop only a few packets, the game will disconnect you. Whereas other games compensate for loss of packets much better. If you get disconnected only at certain times of the day, I would monitor your own connection for packet loss. Run tests on pingtest.net and see if anything is fluctuating around that time. It could be an ISP issue, but the game would still be partly to blame.

    If you're in a wireless network there are even more variables to consider. If that is the case, I recommend posting your information like the OP.

    Okay, but what about me? I'm on a Shared University LAN Network. It seems that a number of people are also having these problems whenever they have a shared network. So, why is FFXIV being so picky with users that have shared networks??

    And as you said, why is it that only FFXIV can't compensate well enough for packet loss?

    Do you have any suggestions which could perhaps enable me to reduce my packet loss? Not that it is going to be easy with a LAN connection where everything else works just fine >_>

    Thanks

    Kewldude,

    We’re sorry for the problems you are experiencing trying to play FINAL FANTASY XIV, and we’d like to try to help you resolve it. We have a number of troubleshooting articles available on the SQUARE ENIX Support Center for connectivity issues. We’d like you to start by running through the troubleshooting and resolution steps provided in the below Knowledge Base article.

    The Knowledge Base article can be found at this link:
    What do I do if I’m experiencing connectivity issues?
