Neither game nor benchmark works on Laptop

Hi all,

I just recently bought a Lenovo Y510P laptop. It has a Nvidia GT 755M video card in it.

The application just crashes after clicking OK on the notice after hitting play in the launcher.

Tried running the benchmark and it just crashes without an error and puts me back on the launcher.

I have made sure that the program should be launching with the graphics card, as it does have Intel graphics in it as well.

I really need help with this. I was under the impression this would be plenty of juice to run the game and if I cannot, I need to return the laptop.

Any help is appreciated....

Yes. Everything has been updated (windows, drivers, etc).
Yes. I have re installed FFXIV.
Yes. I have rebooted. More than 3 times.
Yes. I am running as admin.
Yes. I have setup Nvidia Control Panel to use the Nvidia card on all the executables for the game. The benchmark tool shows the Nvidia card selected under settings.
I am running Windows 8.

Ok just played Crysis 2 on my laptop on extreme settings. Worked fine. So cannot be the laptop doesn't have enough power to play the game. I re installing the game right now for the 3rd time...

Post for your laptop specs please and areyou getting any error codes.

Edited: Doesn't seem other people are having this issue on the same laptop, you might have to jsut mess around with it. Have two friends that just purchased it also since it was on sale they had 0 problems running the game. Sorry not much help

The logon servers are down right now so I'll wait till I try tomorrow to try again...

It is good to hear your friends have got it to work. I picked the lowest model though.

Got it working.

I reloaded the OS again, but this time, I didn't upgrade to the latest nvidia drivers and I also installed directx myself and not through the installer like I did the first couple of times. Now it works.

nvidia is becoming the new ATI with their driver issues. and im an nvidia user so not stating this from the opposite side of the fence
