DPS=Damage Per Second

Hello all I am bringing up a topic that I feel would be nice to get an overall feedback from. What do you think is the true overall best DPS in the game? Keep in all aspects of each class, I don't want to see BRD because it has the support factor. And I know many DPS players are going to jump on and try to argue to the point that there class is better. So remember this is a opinionated topic.
My choice is the BLM, because they are nukers that deal a lot of damage in great burst. MNK is in fact a close second for me, because they are the only true DPS in my opinion. They have a fast GCD rate, they are constantly in rotaion, and they have buff's that counter weaknesses and add strengths.

Now I would love to see what others have to say.

A true overall "DPS" is one that survives.

Will know when to hold back, gauge a PT setup before engaging.

Will understand limits of the 2 different Tank and Healers.

Will understand his own limits, and not laugh or brag about his/her own DPS vs other DPS.

Lastly, don't even care about "DPS". You equip yourself and know the above 3 points. Everything will fall in place.

Remember it is not you as a DPS. It is the entire Team.

To put it bluntly does it really matter if the monster is dying in a timely matter? (Not an attack on the OP either, just more or less how I've kinda felt about the whole DPS issue in this game)

Monk is the strongest no contest what so ever, a skilled one that is, you will never beat them.

What definition of "best" are you looking for? If it's purely damage, then there's only one right answer. If it's utility or fun factor, then there's going to be many (vastly different) opinions on the matter.

This is the part where people come in and say a skilled <this> beats an unskilled <that>, or that <job A> does more damage than <job B> because it has better gear, completely destroying the argument and missing the question entirely.

BRD is classed as a DPS, and while it has support funcitons, it's still a DPS and does that job well.

Statistically speaking, MNK is probably the strongest right now, however MNK is very technical, and some bosses and other mobs make it difficult for MNK to maximize its potential.

I've grouped pretty consistently with every class now in AK/WP and I've yet to find a dps I thought was just flat out inferior. Player Skill and ilvl are more important than anything. Play whatever fits your play style.
