I'm very sure that the price of the game will drop down in near future. or you can find some from eBay very cheap already.

Likely the default price per system will drop to $19.99 in February (PC/PS3). If there is a PS4 CE I expect it to be $79.99 (Physical) or $59.99 (Digital) with the standard full edition being $39.99 (Physical and Digital).
I would love to see a Physical CE for PS4 so I can have all 3 Physical CEs.

it's already a decent price as it is especially at amazon where the pc version is only 28 dollars and the ps3 is only 32 for regular... and the preorder price for the ps4 is 57 dollars with that price guaranteed.

A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
Just buy a PC copy and never bother with the greatly inferior PS3 version again.
I had to buy two copies of XI the first was for PS2 when I started, but I had to buy another copy when I switched to PC. Of course the account was the same, but I did have to buy two physical copies.
You have to purchase a license to use the software on a device. The license SE sells you is only good for 1 device. Thus, you have to buy another copy to use the software on another device. This is completely independent of the fact that you need an account.
This ensures that the player is obtaining the software through legal means. Technically on FFXI, you could find an iso of the software somewhere on the internet and use that if you originally got the PS2 version of the game. The problem is, that's not legal.
Hmmm. When I buy games on humblebundle.com I get pc,mac, linux, and sometimes android versions of the same game - basically whatever platform its available on. This is how the world works.so the point of this thread is you want to cheat the system and not have to pay for a copy of the game. that's not the way the world works anymore unfortunately. It with paying for the game on different platforms it also means better content for us (which is what the sub is for as well)
Its not SE's fault, as I understand it, they don't care where you play, they just want the monthly fee. Sony is the bad guy in this case.
If you download the iso your ok. You are just getting a copy of the CLIENT. The game exist on there servers. In order to pirate a mmo you have to get a copy of the game on the SERVER. MMO's word the EULA so that you don't own the game, items, or currency so you cant pirate the client because SE can't prove you prevented them from making a profit off the sell of a registration key. Now if you have a registration key that wasn't purchased that still isn't piracy it is theft because the store or retailer purchased the registration key from a disruptor or from SE. So private servers is piracy, shoplifting the game key even tho the game stay at gamestop is theft, and getting a copy of the CLIENT from the internet is OK.
You needing a different registration key per system is just another from of revenue for the company. I don't agree with it but I do understand it.
From my IT legal perspective I get the OP disappointment but legally the way i read and understood the EULA it is legal to conduct business this way. Now if you quote the EULA and say downloading the CLIENT is piracy I can try and find you some blizzard legal document that they filed to try and stop private servers and how they word the client is just a client and can't use it as a stand alone game so a court precedent exist on the client topic.
I don't see why the game price isn't for a license for a single person to participate, regardless of platform, and the subscription a continuity fee to play. The actual client software should be free and available to a licensed user for whatever platform they choose to play on.
