How will Item Levels work with new expansions / level cap raises?

In WoW they just have an item level jump every expansion and you'll quickly replace everything you're wearing. Within a few levels, your heroic raid gear is worse than what you get from quests and dungeons. Makes it easy to catch up if you're a new player, otherwise it kind of suck if you're unable to continue to get a relic+4 because no one does level 50 content anymore.

In WoW, at 60, item levels were around the 60-90 range. Four expansions later and level 90 gear has an item level around 480-600.

Heh yeah and several hundred thousand HP. seriously, they need to do an ilvl squish fast.
