How exactly does jump fix the game?

How do you guys even begin to justify that Jump should be high priority?

    Does it bring content?

    Does it fix the battle?

Does it fix the classes issue?

They didn't say they're not doing jumps, they said it's not high priority for obvious reason. I'm not exactly against jump but I just find it incredibly silly for people to be all so up in arms for it when there's much more important issues to fix.

Jump isn't going to make or break the game at all. It's just a luxury feature that other MMORPG have, not a necessity.

So again, answer this. Why should SE focus on Jump when there's much more important issues to be worked on first?

Here's the shocker AND kicker: If FFXIV DID have jump to begin with, people will still be bitching and complaining how much this game sucks because JUMPing doesn't do ANYTHING to fixthat.
I personally don't really care about what priority jumping is at, the point I am personally trying to make with my posts is it's almost hysterical how some people are so adamant against jumping, saying it's not needed and will "slow down development". After that, they proceed to say how amazing things would be like glowing weapons and a circus!

There are a large number of things we "don't need" but no single item is being targeted as heavily on the English forums as the jump feature. Jumping. FFS.

At this point, I would like jump. Why? Personally, I think the "advanced collision detection" looks a little ridiculous. It looks like you are taking an elevator up the side of the wall. "doop! going up!" You just slide right up and down it. If they added jump, they could add things later like cliffs that you need to jump across, floating platforms you need to hop across (as seen in previous FFs, only manual jumping), heck, I would prefer auto-jump once you reach a ledge or platform over leaving it as it is.

What does it add? Interesting animations and more flavor to character movement (we all know that a lot of animations are dull as is), opens options for the future of the game, interesting terrain mechanics.

Hey guys, they are planning on testing out how it would work, how do you know it would be something you would dislike when they haven't given any details?

Why don't people just wait and see how it turns out? Maybe they will implement it in a way that many people here can enjoy. What ever happened to "I don't care what the reviews say, I'm going to try this game out for myself to see how it goes"? Where is that logic at in this situation?

While I like that you are now able to traverse small ledges, I agree that the current system doesn't look right. You move laterally at the same speed regardless of whether you are moving vertically or not. In essence, vertical movement doesn't exist. It's not accounted for at all. Your character just pops up and down instantaneously. I don't know if that's something they can fix or not, as current areas seem to have been designed to create the illusion of elevation change without there actually being any. However, I hope that in the future newly created areas give a better sense of vertical movement.
