I've been asking these same questions. Expect them to be avoided. So, I got a quest that I've been dying to ask and couldn't ask because I was away the entire weekend though I had my laptop but couldn't log on due to not having my token.
How exactly does jump fix the game?
How do you guys even begin to justify that Jump should be high priority?
Does it bring content?
Does it fix the battle?
Does it fix the classes issue?
They didn't say they're not doing jumps, they said it's not high priority for obvious reason. I'm not exactly against jump but I just find it incredibly silly for people to be all so up in arms for it when there's much more important issues to fix.
Jump isn't going to make or break the game at all. It's just a luxury feature that other MMORPG have, not a necessity.
So again, answer this. Why should SE focus on Jump when there's much more important issues to be worked on first?
Here's the shocker AND kicker: If FFXIV DID have jump to begin with, people will still be bitching and complaining how much this game sucks because JUMPing doesn't do ANYTHING to fixthat.

I know people have been avoiding them? Why? Because they KNOW this is actually logical and correct, but refuse to admit it and stick to their argument: "GIMME JUMPS ASAP"
It's really ridiculous and actually hilarious if you think about it.
People think that it's just easy to add jump. It's not. The zones, every single one of them have to be redesigned to allow for jumping. Not only does this include collision detecting, etc, but redesigning maps to ensure that players can't get to area where they shouldn't be going to, IE: boundaries, etc.
This also having to redesign the city so that it would be compatible for jumping, assuming we have free form jumping. You are GOING to see players wanting to hang around on rooftops. They have to be designed for it. I don't mind jumping, but like I said, my main issue is how much work it is required have to add jumps.
Don't get me wrong, I like jumping for exploration, or finding high places to jump to for the fun of it. Hell, I enjoyed flying and swimming in Perfect World International and would just love to see it in FFXIV, but I don't think it's going to make or break the game. Again, Luxury feature, not a necessity.

I game my reasoning, not sure if you saw or not.

However they are planning to implement jump, it can't be that complex, it looks like they will be examining it quite soon.
