I do have fun, too bad jumping doesn't equate instant fun in video games.

I love how people call the "non jumping" argument baseless.......

You want baseless? ok... I have played 20 MMORPGs pay and free that allowed free jumping, and guess what people did in every single one of them?

Bunny hopped (annoying)
Kangaroo fighting (really annoying)

and in all 20 of them, jump was not really even needed, there was nothing in any of them that really required jumping, it was just added for no real reason.

Personally, I wouldn't mind having jumping as long as it was done automatically. They've already changed the game so that your character moves over obstacles that used to block it. Why not add an automatic jump animation to make it more realistic? But that would be very low priority. Given all the other commands my controller has to be able to allow, I couldn't care less about being able to jump when I want. I do agree that "bunny hopping" and "kangaroo fighting" are extremely annoying and degrade the appearance of MMORPGs.

Jumping will be fine, so many people dislike bunny hopping and the community is really quick to enforce things (at least in FFXI) that are deemed good manners and habits. I don't anticipate seeing people hop around like in WoW and if they do, I imagine they will be brow beaten.

There are several different kinds of players. Regardless, they play the game and that automatically makes them a player. Don't make pointless jabs at people, and try to stay on your own topic.

Jumping does not make or break the fun of a game. This is not to say that fun cannot be had with free jumping, but ultimately, it's not necessary.

That doesn't mean I do not want prompted jumping over obstacles. If it's never implemented I won't cry over it, but it would be nice that something similar to that would be brought to the game someday.

Stop Referring FFXIV as an Every Other's MMO.
