How I understand it is when ,for example, your character reach an edge it will automatically jump or maybe slide (same as FFX-2) as a way to solve the problem of not being able to pass that 1 feet edge. If this is the case, then they should implement it.
If they are going to assign a button for jumping then NO, THANKS.
the first expansion
Final Fantasy XIV: I Believe I Can Jump
Let's say you get your jump feature. Guess what? You're still not going to be able to jump across that rock. Want to know why? There's still an invisible wall there, DUH! Jump will NOT do anything neither in nor of itself to even remotely improve gameplay.
Contextual jumping is all ANY MMORPG needs, at best.
P.S. AO in XIV is indeed extremely bugged, period.
Are you saying this game lacks a z axis? It's only X and Y? I think that means we are playing a 2D game... Wow, thats so sad in the year of 2011.Let's say you get your jump feature. Guess what? ....
You couldn't enter caverns or tunnels if there was no z-axis lol. There's a thing called, in plain terms "invisible barriers".
I haven't seen any compelling arguement against jump beside
- 'Jump is totally not FF like!! No FF has ever had jump and thats the reason it should stay that way!' or Cause FF was never innovative and in fact they have released the same exact game over and over again with new graphics, cause it worked and thats the way it was and it was FF!!! ???
- 'I dont want to see everyone jump like bunnies!!!1'
*watch out, once we have the jump ability all will turn to easter bunnies and jump just to irritate YOU. Cause people have nothing better to do like have fun or do things in game etc*
and the best reasons yet...
- 'it breaks my immersion' . . . . lol
Seriously. Let there be jump. Get over your hate of the most successful MMO - WOW and please don't think putting things in the game are stealing it from wow. Some things should standard in the gaming market today. Wow was not the first game with jump, and its definitely not the only one.
I haven't seen any compelling argument for it beyond:
"It will let me explore more!"
No it won't. The game has to be designed for it.
"It will let me get over small ledges!"
Collision detection changes solves that.
You say:
Yoshida says it's not important, therefore low priority, so it's time to get over it and realize it's not important.Get over your hate
