    The physics just feel...not right.
    The physics on jumping in most MMOs are closer to reality than the physics in the kind of games you're thinking of (e.g. you don't jump like 3x your height)

    I'm talking more in the realm of floaty jumps, poorly animated jumps, and jumps that don't ease in and out well.
    And really, why bother making it more 'real', if doesn't feel right when playing?

    Now the argument has swayed towards "We don't want jumping because it won't be well implemented". This is a Final Fantasy game. How can you think they would settle for "poorly animated jumps"? You know that when they put jump into the game it'll look great, so why fight it?

    Did I say it won't be well implemented?
    No, I said the jumping physics in the MMO's I've played have been disappointing.

    I don't know how Square is going to do it. I hope that they do it well.

    This is a Final Fantasy game. How can you think they would settle for the horrible condition they released this game in? The company doesn't always make good decisions.

    You've seen the video from the live letter showing what they had worked on for a jump animation so far right? What did you think of that? Yoshi himself said the height was a little extreme. I agree with him there, but I was actually really impressed with the motions of the characters especially the landing. It was also impressive to see the jumping while running was well done. I know that was merely an early stage test, but it still looked good to me, albeit a little high.

    I've always been very impressed with all of the motions in the game so far, I've yet to see an emote or an attack that I can say is unrealistic or impossible. For me it's one of FFXIV's greatest accomplishments in the game so far.

    I thought it didn't look smooth enough. But it's not really something I can safely critique without trying it myself.
