Talk about necropost.
I'll repeat myself since my last one : jumping is good if it have a purpose. "Because all other mmorpgs have it" isn't a purpose.
Now, in this maps don't have purpose, since they are implementing jumping i hope it have

You guys cannnnn...... jump to your death. No jumping please.
If you don't like jump just don't use it amirite.
Joking aside. No idea what the problem is, it's a 2 second action. It removes invisible walls (or at least it should). If people enjoy their restricted world, then sure, no jumping. Xenoblade felt much more vibrant than FFXII did because you could explore with a jump function. Nothing was truly held behind an invisible wall. Right now you gotta walk around every rock, can't drop down from cliffs, etc. It's a little silly that we can't do simple things like this to get to various places. Not really saying I think that those against jumping are wrong, I just cannot see what they have against a simple feature like that. Even FFXIII-2 has manual jumping.
Those are offline games where jumping abuse doesn't hurt other people's immersion. If you don't like jump just don't use it amirite.

This is not an FPS, there is no place for bunny hopping or mario jumps. If they do add jumping it should be like in Final Fantasy 13 where you move close to something and it auto jumps you because that's where its appropriate to jump, (Or give you the option only at that point to use jump). This is a small detail that can help separate a serious mmo title from toony games like WoW.

Pretty sure offline games try for immersion as well. I know Xenoblade was pretty immersive, despite the fact that it had jumping. How is not being able to jump a few feet more immersive than being able to?Those are offline games where jumping abuse doesn't hurt other people's immersion.

Also since it's "toony", we gotta remove Dragoon. Because they can jump, and I don't want to play WoW guys I wanna play a serious MMO.
DRG's jump ability is an ability that fits the lore of the job.
As for the thread...I don't see the point in having a bunny hop feature for the sake of it. WoW has a jump feature but has content that requires you to utilize it in an intelligent matter. If we had content that required the feature to jump implemented I would be all for it. As long as it's not an useless animation that the devs don't have to waste their time on.
However if a jump feature were added, if added as an action command(requring something to prompt the player when to activate) that will give us the jump feature and restrict any bunny hoppers!
Jumping is coming there redesigning the zones with the ability to jump in mind.
this is a particular dog that is best left lying down.

When you hit that wall you couldn't climb over, if they gave you the ability to jump, they'd have to make a bigger wall. No jumping is SE's way of having a wall, but it not being a huge wall, and thus more ascetically pleasing.

You dont need BS like that. All you need is a short cooldown. You make your own immersion. If someone is acting like a jerk, you blacklist them, ignore them, etc. If enough people don't like a person's behavior, they will not get invited to do things and realize that acting stupid doesn't make you popular. This is not an FPS, there is no place for bunny hopping or mario jumps. Characters shouldn't jump twice their height, no, but it needs to be just enough to be functional. Jumping does not equal mario or bunny hopping. Jumping has the potential to be mechanically useful when ground hazards exist- which they do in XIV. I honestly don't feel things such as this should be included in an MMO if you can't jump out/off of ground-based dangers.
Features should not be denied just because a few kids who don't have the maturity level for an MMO in the first place *might* abuse it.
A few kids acting stupid is a very, very poor reason not to have a useful feature in a game.
