    I call into question the relevance of your quote.

    What that quote serves to suggest is that jumping offers nothing to the game and also that it detracts from the overall experience.

    Firstly, and although it is a contentious argument, I think many people would argue the case that a feature like jumping opens up a host of new avenues for gameplay and is thereby not a meaningless addition. Someone already mentioned implementing platforming mechanics during boss encounters (jumping to higher land to avoid magma flows, for example) and this is something that cannot be done without a jump feature. So as aforementioned, it would be a stretch to say that jumping adds nothing to the gameplay, when clearly it has the potential to add so much.

    Obviously the next point that jumping will ruin the experience of FFXIV is again contentious, but many would argue that this is untrue. FFXIV is known for its realistic animations, and you can pretty much guarantee that they would bring this facet over into the jumping animations, making them as plausible as possible. If anything, I personally find the gaming experience of FFXIV to be ruined by NOT being able to jump, rather than the other way around.

    If you would care to explain, with details, how jumping could actually ruin the experience of FFXIV, that would be great. And also could you please explain for us how jumping cannot enrich the gameplay mechanics. It would be most appreciated.

    Because of the way some of the landscaping is structured, they would either have to make your character jump really high so you can actually jump over things(which may look silly) or have it just be a small hop to make it realistic but useless at the same time.

    Personally if they did it I would like to see it done in the form of a chocobo. You could rent / tame a chocobo that had the ability to jump. They could also expand this idea even FURTHER by introducing chocobo breeding ala FFVII. Maybe it was just me but I used to love breeding the chocobos. Especially when I started getting the cool ones like mountain / gold.

    You could start out with a regular yellow chocobo, eventually breed it and get a mountain choco that can run up slanted cliffs, breed him to get a white chocobo that can jump and maybe glide for a few seconds. who knows, they could really have fun with the idea and make something cool. This game could use a new mechanic like this imo to break up the usual crafting leve / battle leve / behest routine that people sometimes fall into.

    What is wrong with a small realistic hop to get DOWN from ledges and to hop from place to place? Small hop is not useless!

    And why can't we have climb to get over higher obstacles (like Call of Duty for example).

    The main reason I want jump/more freedom moving around, well because that alone allows for new mechanics to the design of the game which in turn allows for slightly more entertaining boss encounters, like many have said hidden treasures only accessible through jump mechanics and many other possibilities.In the end adding this feature just opens up millions of new possibilities.

    Take the Ifrit fight, its so dull, the only thing that makes it hard is the server lag.
