I want jumping now. I am sick of being a retarded cripple that cant even jump down from a stupid ledge. I could do that shit in real life. Why can't i do it in a FANTASY MMO where I fight freakin dragons 10 times me size? Where is the consistency.

It's pretty funny how both sides just keep saying "Your opinion's not valid because you don't have a good enough reason to convince ME why you want/don't want it!"
Whether you're for or against it no one else's opinion will change your mind. So it's pretty pointless and perhaps not very intelligent to keep asking the opposing side for more reasons when you know none of them will satisfy you.

As I've said before, and I've stated my reasons in just about every one of these threads.. No thanks to free jump. Game breaker for me. A zelda-like jump where when approaching a ledge you jump off, I could deal with, but SE already fixed the ledges so there's no need.

I'd like to see jump implemented, but as the letter indicated it's not a high priority compared to things like battle system revisions after all. You bake a delicious cake before you apply the icing. That said, it should be put in eventually, and a full unrestricted jump system, not a Zelda/FFXIII style one that's basically adding action commands rather than actually jumping. Having a jump won't call attention to itself after the novelty wears off, but its absence in a modern game, especially an open world MMO, draws lots of attention to the game's restrictions--just look at this thread. However, an action command based system also draws attention to how restricted jumping is, and doesn't make sense for the large open maps of FFXIV as opposed to the narrow linear corridors of FFXIII and FFX-2.

Either way, the message I got from the letter is that it will be put in eventually, as it should be, but it comes after much more important additions.

But seriously jumping gives you the illusion of more freedom and control over your character. Nothing is worse than not being able to jump off a cliff. You just slide :|
