Bahahahhahahaha!!! to the OP. I actually laughed when I first read the OP. SE has chosen a direction (finally). Suck it up or move on. Oh and as others have pointed out, the reviewers were either trying to be kind by finding something to praise about the game or they were stoned. And if they werent stoned, they were speaking in more relative terms. As in "the game sucks but this armory thinger is not terrible."

I have never really liked the Armory system from the get go. I just suffered through it. SE is at least meeting in the middle, because if it were left to me the armory system would have been completely scrapped and replaced with jobs. And the Armory system will still exist.......... for casuals and crafters and certain parties (read guild leves) and RPs. For actual challenging, engauging, and rewarding content you will have Jobs. Now maybe I can become a Paladin, and actually care about my class/job and develop some pride and enthusiasm about my role in parties as well as the world of Eorzea.

No, I didnt Ignore it. I just thought it was absurd for the most part. The ONLY part I can stop laughing long enough to agree with is the part about how some things that have been a problem have not been touched. However, I will forgive SE because they are too busy saving the game from itself. The changes they are implementing WILL bring people back, that haven't completely written SE off. There are many like me who were just waiting for the good part, and it looks to be coming. Sure we need a mail system, and it will come, but first they are going to make me care about playing the game. As for Tanaka's vision, he might want to update his prescription eyewear, Because the Armory System was definately different but an absolute abomination. Jobs are the fix for the Armory system. If they had just shut the game down instead, then they wouldnt have had to do that, and we would probably just have Jobs by now. But because Tanaka was stubborn about some of the games lousy systems, too many people invested time into the game and they had to meet people in the middle.

Hmmm....... now we just need to get them to meet in the middle on MW vs AH (read: castrate the MWs) and I'll have only minor complaints such as a need for a delivery system.

As was previously mentioned, a decent amount(not all) of those review complaints are old news, have been fixed, will be fixed, or were just wrong.

I like what the new team has done(and has planned), but they have a tough 2-fold task to deal with. Making the game desirable to new players & those who were quickly turned off as well as keeping the very demanding current players happy. You don't have to look far on any forums or even in-game to see that opinions on what needs to be done vary greatly. From one extreme to the other and everywhere in between on most issues. They want to say all the right things to not chase anyone else off while still trying to attract more players. It's like with every little thing they have to find the route that will piss the least amount of people off = D

I feel for 'em in that regard. I like the title of the thread because at some point they will need to "be brave" and take some chances. Step up, truly take control, and say "Alright, this is how it's gonna be". Rather than the walking on eggshells they've been doing since release.

Totally agree. I have been waiting for a direction for what seems like forever. And while Yoshi-P brought promise, answers were always way too vague for me. I am with you, they have to take a firm stance and give us a clear direction. For the logest time I have felt like the kid in the back seat asking his parents: Are we there yet? And finally Akihiko Matsui answers with "Almost, little Amsai".

Leeloo, none of the criticisms I cited are above low priority for the dev team. And just because you literally read about before doesn't make it old news. It's hot, fresh news because it remains a huge problem. Most of those criticisms are not even mentioned by the dev team at all. You are probably just thinking of things like "examination of an auction house system". You probably remember stuff like that and think of it as being addressed. However, if you look closer no progress has been made on those low priority issues, and most remain unaddressed.

Amsai there's no need to white knight. You are preaching to the choir.

    Meh.

Just let them redevelop the game into the ground and watch from the sidelines, laughing.

They thought the cutscenes were nice, yes, but given more time with the game, they would have inevitably realized that the story in the game is total crap.

You mean your assertation that they are fixing the only thing that was praiseworthy? There was hardly anything that was praiseworthy about the game. What the new team is doing is taking the seeds of inspiration from the old FF14 and remaking it into a game that is better. Whatever the old team's goals and aspirations were, they screwed it up totally and YoshiP is doing his best to fix the mess.
Why did you bring up that the story was crap?

No thank you. Two failed risks would absolutely kill the game. The dev team is doing the right thing right now and making it so that the game is actually enjoyable before they start to do "experimental" "individual" "innovative" things like Tanaka did.

You seem completely blind to the fact that 90% of the game was crap when it was released. Tanaka's vision was nothing but a vision (for Rentahamster: the vision is non-existent in the game right now, but if you look at the original Final Fantasy XIV site, it gives you a good idea of what everyone was expecting. At any rate he was in charge of scheduling as the producer, so all of those who say "HE WAS PRESSURED BY UPPERS TO RELEASE IT TOO SOON" it was his damn job to tell them IT'S NOT READY YET...the director was some dude who worked on FFXI and presumably he had a large hand in releasing the game as crappy as it was as well).

And now I forget why I was posting

EDIT: Why aren't Tracks 1 and 2 in the actual game? They're from the character select/creation screens I wish they were in the actual game.

Agreed -- the "March" theme from XI still stirs up a slew of emotions for me.
