Tank HP Requirements For Endgame DF Content

While playing my WHM too often will I come across tanks that come into my Duty Finder PUG and believe they are fully capable of clearing the content with ease. MAYBE this is because you, the tank, are used to clearing things with Relic DPS or heals? But when you come to a duty finder to do an instance, ASSUME you will be paired with average gear players with average mental capacities.

One perfect example of what I'm trying to explain is this: A full darklight healer along with half DL DPS and a tank with 4.3k HP enter Wanderer's Palace together.
***This is a 45 minute run at best***
The tonberry king hits for 4k if the dps is smart enough to count 3 at a time. at 4 at a time we wipe, at 3 at a time we most likely wipe without benediction or swift cast. To top it off, the tank wasn't capable of kiting all the tonberries himself. This tank should have farmed CM and Prate more clearly.

Therefore the HP Requirements for TANKS in Duty Finder groups is as follows:
CM & Praetorium: Full AF1 Gear
Wanderers Palace: 4.6k HP
Amdapor Keep: 5.2k HP (6K if you plan to tome farm quicker than WP)
Ifrit: Meh who cares
Garuda: 5.5k HP
Titan: You dont pug Titan, maybe 8K HP


Those are for PUGS only, with a skilled FC or group of friends or even a pug by invite group you can get away with having less hp.

But if you are going to DF tank those dungeons with less than my recommended HP, you're gonna have a bad time. As a healer I usually leave if the tank isn't close to meeting my requirements, because honestly, 15min debuff +25min WP run is WAY better than one 45min WP run that has a chance of dissolving midway.

You can pug titan, and a paladin with 5k+ hp or a warrior with 7k+ hp (in defiance) can easily eat the Mountain Buster in that fight with a competent healer.

A competent Paladin doesn't take damage from Mountain Buster.... (Or takes extremely little). Though you still need competent healers to deal with 8+ Tumults.

1) PLD's and WAR's work differently, while WAR's should stack HP PLD's have damage mitigation and such. I don't think I've ever seen a PLD in Titan with 8k HP.
2) You just can't tome farm AK faster than WP. If you think you can, then you need to improve at farming WP.

Well first of all, if your tanks are any good, they know how to deal with tonberry king's grudges. Low hp PLD can hallow ground and WAR can thrill of battle. I assume you haven't done titan yet because I have AF chest, helm, full DL and Relic, and i still don't have 8k hp. The chance of you finding a tank that can meet that requirement is almost 0.

8k for Titan...? What? 6k for AK? Are you talking strictly Warriors here? PLD can do everything fine endgame with 5k hp, and everything else (AK/wp/Ifrit/Garuda) with less

Oddly, my pld has full hoplite (AK) set with hq lvl48 rings and hp only hits 4.8k (all vit attributes as well). You require 400 more hp for a dungeon whose set doesn't reach? AK isn't as hard as you make it out to be.

Those HP levels are way too high for a PLD.

Sounds like you want the tank to be over-geared to make up for others that are lacking.

I have 5.5k hp in a party and I have relic +1 sword with almost full DL gear.

He's dumb, or a troll. IMO it's a Clear example of someone who rushed to level 50 the week of the games release and has nothing better to do now than sit around in Revenant's Toll and complain about the game on the forums until he can find a full AF2/DL/Allagan Relic +1 group for WP speed runs.

CM/PRAE/WP/AK/Ifrit are the first tier of endgame content. They were designed to be completed in AF and leveling accessories. Any tank in that kind of gear is going to have under 5k HP, except warriors who might have a little over 5k with defiance.

It's ridiculous to assume, as the OP apparently has, that SE expected people to grind prae/CM for full DL before going into either WP or AK when the gear that drops in both of those instances is lower ilvl than the gear you can get with Philo tomes.

My main class is Paladin, I tanked WP/AK/Prae/CM/Ifrit/Garuda in AF and aetherial when I was starting out. It's not hard if you're capable of understanding fight mechanics.
