So...
Where did we dig these up? Mor Dhona?
And what about the beastmen? They just stole or salvaged the old ones? But how are they reversed in transportation magic to begin with?

He doesn't mind us conducting trials so close to his bazaar, so long as he's properly compensated... Yes, Portus, we pay him in sorcery-blasted bird flesh. - Cocobygo
I LOLed IRLAlso, even if they (NPCs) were able to strain themselves and use transference magic, they'd receive severe aether poisoning and would have to rest for very long periods of time to use it again. (To put it simply into game terms, they can't use it frequently because the recast time is way too long.)
They say chocobos and airships and such play a major role in Eorzea for "people". Too bad they don't play any role at all for players.
Speak for yourself. I Chocobo everywhere and ride the airship any time I have to go to Limsa. I admit that I do generally Return when I go back to Gridania (my home point). I'd rather take a bit longer to get where I'm going than waste my Gil.

My understanding is that they need to make crystallized ether you need a lot of magical understanding to make ether into a crystal form. Beastmen have the magic to summon there primal and they also use a lot of crystal like fire and such to summon there primal. So i'm guessing they also understand how to make the crystallized ether.
Made some clarifications to the original post with the help of the Localization team!

This is brilliant, now i want one on what exactly is a "tomestone". Tomestones look awfully like the sword stuck in Bahamuts Dalamud...
ummm.... I don't understand. So... what happened to our anima? Are we still able to use it?Why doesn't everyone use aetherytes?
To traverse the Lifestream safely with Teleport and Return requires a great deal of spiritual energy, known as anima. While many individuals, such as adventurers, possess the fortitude to endure such travel, some individuals do not. What’s more, even if one has the ability to use aetherytes, the frequency with which one can do so varies. In essence, for some, the recast time for these spells can be far longer than for an adventurer.
More importantly...Why wasn't it our local Ahriman who dropped the lore bomb! I miss the Ferne master D:
Jokes asides. Thanks for clearing that up. It always bothered me to simply think the aetheryte were there, to never be used by people. Now it explains it.

Why does it cost gil to use aetherytes?
Many aetheryte camps were destroyed during the Calamity, which necessitated their reconstruction. However, this came at great expense, and so teleportation fees must be collected to repay the as yet unpaid debt.
However, the gil doesn’t just magically disappear from your purse! Though it's not shown in the game, it's collected by the guards keeping watch of the aetherytes.
On a side note, guards posted by each city-state's aetheryte can tell you about aetherytes and teleportation magic. If you're interested, see what they have to say!
They're as bad as the US IRL, working on credit are they?? I'm pretty sure they could've thought of something else, lol!
Nobody works for free for they time they were reconstructing. I would rather go back to paying in anima.
~'\[[_LEGACY_]]/'~TENTs because solo-friendly content forces me to want one!
