Getting equal or less XP for HQ ingot?

So I just started making Mythril Ingots, and I noticed that whenever I synth an HQ ingot, I get only equal, and sometimes even less EXP for it than when I craft a normal quality one. I always use the same process (it's a macro) and the same materials, and the few times I had different quality increase from Good or Excellent States, it came out to a difference of 2 or 3 %. Shouldn't I be getting substantially more EXP for HQ items? Am I hitting a max limit of exp here (though why would I get less exp then), or is this a bug I should report?

HQ'ing items does not give you more XP. The quality percentage that the synth ended in is what gives you more xp

Hmm, not sure you understand how the XP bonus works.

The higher you get the quality percentage up the higher the XP bonus, it has nothing to do with the end results of the craft.

    For example.

Craft 1 - You get an 18% chance at HQ'ing a Mythril Ingot and succeed.

Craft 2 - You get an 86% chance at HQ'ing a Mythril Ingot but you end up with normal quality.

Though the quality of the item is actual better in the first craft you'll still get less xp than you would for the second craft.

Yea, NQ or HQ, it doesn't matter. Your XP is based off the final HQ %.

Ah, I see. Most of the time when I got HQ items before, it was from really high quality (80%+) so I erroneously assumed the extra XP came from the HQ synth. Thanks for clearing that up.

It is not based on the final HQ%. It's based on how much you raised it from the start of the synthesis. A 0/1061 (arbitrary number) raised to 800/1061 will give more EXP than a 530/1061 to 1061/1061. You can see the last two crafts gave you the same number of Quality (141+94+94=329 in different order). You probably did not get a Good in those 3 steps in the first synth and got 94+94+94=282 Quality instead, hence lower EXP.

It's as Lemon8or says. Try getting something toward 100% with HQ items as a base and then using NQ items. You'll find that while you can increase it easier with HQ items, the NQ items will give you more exp since you have more room to work with.

Yep... its all about the %quality increase (not your final HQ%).

If you raise the quality by around 30% of max (giving you a 9-11% HQ chance) you'll get around 200% of the full 300% bonus
