[dev1082] The (un)Official Mount System Thread

I do not want a mount system like WoW. Chocobo's only please. Why change a good idea like chocobos as mounts? I understand taking some things from WoW. But the mount system is not something I would like to have in FFXIV. But screw me! They are giving us auto attack which I do not want. Thanks for the future gimp to my Mar.

Yeah because WoW is the only game in the world to allow players to ride on a variety of mounts. Why change it? Because it can easily be expanded upon. Chocobos are a great start but there are ways to expand it and actually move the series forward. Why keep it the same when you can improve upon it?

I think I remember reading that some of the different types of mounts included carriages pulled by chocobos that would take you from a to b (like a path travel, sort of like flying from a to b in other games) and of course your normal ferry/boat, airship and rental chocobos. I also remember reading (prior to release of the game) about personal chocobos that you could 'customize' (besides color etc) to be extra storage or find you treasures, be a racing chocobo and dare I say I may have read being able to fight (potentially very limitedly) from a chocobo. Anyway, I think these would be great.

- carriages pulled by chocobos/horses (automatic paths) (maybe possibility of a group being able to travel together in the same carriage)
- rental chocobos
- personal chocobos (customize to do extra things like hold items/find treasures/be speedy etc)
- airships (automatic paths)

I think it would also be nice to have equipment or consumables/items with speed buffs for a gil sink for use in the city and other zones/places where you cannot ride your mount/find a rental mount/carriage etc
(also I think it would be nice if you were NOT allowed to ride your mounts in the city, makes a lot of lag and is really visually unpleasant to see characters stuck inside of someones mount etc)

Other than chocobos, the only other reasonable transportation I can think of is of the machina variety. (In terms of world and lore.)

Here's some optional mounts id like to see besides Chocobos.

Coblyns / Doblyns - Coblyn <3
Antelope - lol idk why but its blue & looks wierd.
Aldgoat - not the most obvious choice but looks potential lol
Hogs - If anything screams mount it's these bad boys.

- mounts gotta have some bling bling, example: Collars, mount seat, head armor et.
