you obviously never played final fantasy tactics
during a fight we could mount the chocobo and attack, cast magic. the enemy had to kill the chocobo first before you

I really doubt mounted combat will be implemented anytime soon. Probably not until sometime next year, and only in new regions. I don't want my chocobo do die! It should be like Super Mario Bro 3 where when Yoshi got hit he would blink and run away :P
Nah, just normal mounts for transportation will be nice at first. Then when the Garlean Empire zone is released we could have some cool mech mounts![]()
Why are people so afraid of having more options aside from Chocobos? As it's been stated before other FF games have had different kinds of mounts, not to mention let's let the series progress past dusty old standards.
What is the argument against things other than chocobos? Not FF? Well we've already rendered that point moot. Anything else?
Argument for other mounts:
*Greater variety
*By association it allows players to be more expressive in their personality in-game or may accommodate their play style.
*Adds even more goals for people to aspire to. They could have quests for obtaining a license for each family of creature.
*It frees up Chocobos to be for more than JUST travel.
In all seriousness though, as long as it's in addition to Chocobos what's the problem?
This is pretty much how I look at it. An addition to chocobo being available mounts. Not a bad thing. Why are people so afraid of having more options aside from Chocobos? * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
Airship maybe?
There is supposed to be a signature here.
im not going to read the entire thread, but dodobo ftw. All hail the might dodobo *ark*
Examination of mount system (including chocobos)???
What THE HELL? INCLUDING CHOCOBOS??
Damn, this is Final Fantasy, ONLY chocobos are allowed.
They can differ in colours, armor or wathever.
Any other type of mounts don't fit in this game.
Nope. Chocobos aren't Final Fantasy because they weren't in the first one, which seems to be the argument that people like to use when denouncing anything new.The first FF (the real one for nes) hadn't any mount, the first mount in the saga appear in the wood in FFII, and you know what that mount was? a CHOCOBO.
Really I can't remember were you ride a dragon expect in ff legend, and really legends are another game from the ff saga.
FFVIII got some cars... but you use it less than one time in the game.
Also, Final Fantasy V had you using a dragon as a mount(albeit for a short while), and Final Fantasy Legend III isn't an actual Final Fantasy game, it's a SaGa game. If you guys are going to be making claims about what "is and isn't Final Fantasy", I expect arguments backed by expert knowledge on the series.
That isn't a stab at you(you DID ask nicely) as much as it is against everyone who tosses around the "it's not Final Fantasy, fuck that!" argument around like it was about to go out of style, so sorry if I was a little off-putting.

Tactics ones
Crystal Chronicles

ecc
I'm not saying that the one outside the main saga are bad or anything (I loved many of them), just they don't belong to the main saga.
The only mount in FF as always been the chocobo since II (the first one didn't have any mounts at all), breaking those little thing are not improving the saga, they are just killing it.
Anyway it's my opinion as a fan, (I've played them all, full cleared them all) like I said, I can't really see people going out riding dogs, monkeys, dragons or whatever ouside chocobos in this game.
