This is pretty much how I look at it. An addition to chocobo being available mounts. Not a bad thing. Why are people so afraid of having more options aside from Chocobos? As it's been stated before other FF games have had different kinds of mounts, not to mention let's let the series progress past dusty old standards.
What is the argument against things other than chocobos? Not FF? Well we've already rendered that point moot. Anything else?
Argument for other mounts:
*Greater variety
*By association it allows players to be more expressive in their personality in-game or may accommodate their play style.
*Adds even more goals for people to aspire to. They could have quests for obtaining a license for each family of creature.
*It frees up Chocobos to be for more than JUST travel.
In all seriousness though, as long as it's in addition to Chocobos what's the problem?
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
